Our client, a progressive International Renewable Energy business in Uganda with a portfolio of investments in several Special Purpose Vehicles (SPVs), wishes to recruit a competent individual for the position of Financial Controller. Purpose of the Job: Drive efficient accounting and financial management and carry out the day to day financial administration of the company and its associates in compliance with the internal policies and external requirements. The role closely coordinates with the Senior Management Team, the Head Office Finance team as well as other key stakeholders including the lenders, audit & tax partners, suppliers and government regulatory departments.

Key Responsibilities

• IT To provide leadership to the finance function to ensure professionalism, efficiency and growth of team members.
• Manage effective corporate accounting procedures that adhere to the international Financial Reporting Standards
• Monitor and ensure compliance with the various lender requirements as per the executed agreements.
• Ensure effective cash flow management through tight control of inflows and outflows and regular cash forecasting.
• Ensure an effective process of recharging of costs between the Company and the relevant SPV’s is implemented, monitored and adapted to meet business needs.
• Take the lead on tax planning and ensure procurement requests are executed in a timely and cost-efficient manner and in accordance to procurement guidelines and policies.
• Ensure compliance with applicable domestic tax regulations and liaise with tax authority and tax advisors.
• Develop, implement and ensure weekly, monthly and annual reports are prepared to a high standard of accuracy and as per the specified deadlines. Interpret financial reports to management providing appropriate commentary.
• Ensure that the annual financial audits of the Company and the SPVs are completed on time and to budget and , that all the filing requirements are adhered to. Address issues raised, if any, during the audits. ‘ “
• Manage the company policies regarding debt management, taxation, equity, disposals and acquisitions etc
• Control and manage capital expenditure and prepare all cost/ benefit valuations.

Key Requirements

• A well grounded finance professional who is a qualified member of a recognized accountancy body and a strong finance related bachelors degree.
• Minimum 10 years of relevant post qualification experience. Big four / audit background with significant commercial / industry experience in operating businesses is preferred Ugandan tax knowledge a pre—exquisite
• Commercially astute, articulate, technically strong, dynamic, insightful and influential leader with the ability to operate at both strategic and operational levels
  
• A good communicator with strong interpersonal skills
