Position Overview:
Educate! is seeking an analytical and strategic Grants Finance Manager to join our External Relations team. Based in East Africa and reporting to the US/Europe Managing Director, this role is central to shaping and managing budgets, streamlining financial processes, ensuring compliance, and using tools like Google Sheets to analyze and tell compelling stories that drive the success of our grant funding initiatives. While prior experience in finance isn’t a must, a solid understanding of financial concepts and the ability to engage with complex data is essential. You’ll work closely with leadership and implementation teams, helping to streamline financial processes, ensure compliance, and contribute to the growth of the organization through strategic data insights.

What you will do:
You will ensure the efficient and compliant management of grant budgets, reporting, and data, supporting Educate!'s mission and maintaining strong funder relationships. You will focus on streamlining processes, ensuring accuracy, and providing data-driven insights.
Grant Budgets & Reporting:
- Deliver High-Quality Reports: You will ensure Educate! delivers high-quality, transparent, and on-time grant reports, keeping funders informed and aligned with our mission.
- Streamline Reporting: You will streamline grant reporting systems and processes to improve efficiency.
- Collaborate on Budget Accuracy: You will collaborate with teams across departments to ensure budgets are categorized and prepared accurately.
- Review from a Funder's Perspective: You will review budgets and reports through a funder’s lens to meet criteria and communicate a compelling story.
Compliance:
- Develop Compliance Systems: You will develop and maintain systems to track grant requirements, milestones, and compliance.
- Finalize Grant Agreements: You will review and finalize grant agreements, ensuring commitments are feasible and clearly documented.
- Align Teams on Requirements: You will align cross-departmental teams on grant requirements through regular communication and updates.
Grant Compliance Process Improvements:
- Develop Centralized Tracking: You will develop centralized systems to track errors, streamline operations, and identify areas for improvement.
- Create Management Tools: You will create tools to manage grant agreements and ensure data collection aligns with reporting needs.
- Maintain Improvement Pipeline: You will maintain a pipeline of process improvements to enhance compliance systems.
Data:
- Track Revenue and Identify Gaps: You will create reports to track revenue against goals and identify gaps or opportunities.
- Improve CRM Functionality: You will improve Salesforce (CRM) functionality to automate processes, reminders, and data accuracy.
- Craft Funder Responses: You will collaborate with teams to craft tailored responses to funder inquiries and showcase Educate!’s impact.

- Strong data skills: You possess advanced Excel/Google Sheets skills and a comfort with data analysis, capable of distilling complex information into clear, actionable insights.
- A proactive and independent work ethic: You are a self-starter, able to prioritize, manage multiple assignments, and take initiative.
- Experience in cross-functional collaboration: You have a proven track record of working with diverse teams to achieve goals on time.
- CRM experience (preferred): Experience with Salesforce or a similar CRM, especially in building reports, processes, and automations, is a significant plus.
- Strong communication skills: You can effectively communicate complex data and create easy-to-understand spreadsheets.
- A Bachelor’s Degree: A Bachelor’s degree is preferred, but the specific field is not required.
- Relevant work experience: 3-8 years of relevant work experience is preferred.
