This position is responsible for supporting the Head of Mission (HoM) in security management and coordination tasks, contributing to networking and country/regional context analysis and follow-up, management of information and internal communication, according to MSF protocols, standards, and procedures in order to facilitate the mission coordination tasks.
Key Accountabilities:
Networking:
- Produce regional context analysis highlighting the latest social, economic, political, and security trends with (potential) impact on the security and humanitarian contexts.
- Assist the HoM in dissemination of relevant context information to the coordination team and neighbouring missions on key issues.
- Develop and maintain a network of contacts to share information on the regional context.
- Analyze the risks and the security level of the context of the mission and assist in conducting risk assessments and in the development of security plans.
Communication:
- Guide and facilitate the management of MSF information and essential records and documents of the mission, while following MSF policies and guidelines.
- Support in media mapping, maintaining key contacts for communication dissemination.
- Contribute to internal communication for SUKA staff and MSF community and partners (newsletter, internal website, etc.).
Administrative Support:
- Support during management team meetings with minute-taking, information organization, report preparation, etc.
- Participate in the elaboration of different mission strategic documents, contributing to the mission’s strategic planning and objectives.
- Write letters and correspondences to officials and partners and prepare reports, internal memos, and formal requests.
Requirements:
Education: Bachelor of Mass Communication, or Bachelor of Arts in Social Sciences. A Master’s in Social Science with (Political Science) as a specialty is an added advantage.
Experience: Experience in humanitarian work, and a strong understanding of country context analysis and experience working on political, security, and humanitarian issues.
Knowledge: Computer proficiency in MS Excel and Word, good analytical skills, good at figures and economics data, excellent communication and diplomatic skills, including writing skills.
Competences: People Management, Commitment to MSF Principles, Behavioral Flexibility, Results and Quality Orientation, Teamwork and Cooperation.
Language: English and basic French are prerequisites for this role.
