Job Purpose
• To lead the Bank’s Mortgage and Consumer Banking teams and hold accountability for implementing strategies to drive growth and maximize profitability of this flagship segment.
• The role holder shall also hold accountability for the performance of the Bank’s various sales and distribution channels.
• As a members of the Bank’s EXCO, the role holder shall also offer lateral leadership and contribution to the development and implementation of the overall Bank Strategy. .
Responsibilities /Key Deliverables
• Provide strategic and tactical direction to the HFB’s Mortgage and Consumer Banking segment to drive growth this segment in line with the bank’s business plan.
• Continuously review and innovate to ensure that the Bank’s customer value proposition(s) for the Mortgage & Consumer Banking Segment are in line with changing banking landscape and customer needs.
• Proactively lead customer relationship management in the segment to enhance customer experience, drive value and increase share of wallet.
• Drive inclusion and increase uptake of mortgage and consumer banking solutions within the Bank’s areas of coverage across the country.
• Grow market share in the Mortgage and Consumer Banking segment through new customer acquisition, innovating new products and service offerings for Business Customers.
• Work with other business segment heads to ensure that wallet share from existing customers is optimised through offering a varied range of products and solutions.
• Initiate and build partnerships with key players and stakeholders in the housing value chain and lock in the Bank’s opportunities to sell mortgages and other consumer products.
• Drive new initiatives and innovations for business development within the mortgage and consumer banking segment and ensure that HFB is at the cutting edge in developing solutions that meet customer needs.
• Proactively manage credit risk in order to deliver a high performing quality portfolio within the segment.
• Responsible for delivering effective people management processes including performance management, talent management, succession planning, training and staff career development and succession planning
Financial Responsibility
• Responsible for the business growth budget for the Mortgage and Consumer Banking segment
• Accountable for financial performance of the Mortgage and Consumer Banking segment Person Specification

Education & Training
• A Business degree in finance, Commerce, Business Administration, Economics, Statistics, management or any relevant field.
• Possession of a certified banking qualification or master's degree in a relevant field would be an added advantage.
• Relevant practical training in business development in the financial services sector
Skills & Experience
• At least 15 years’ experience in the banking sector with at least 5 in a senior management role.
• Demonstratable track record of successful business development in consumer banking
• Demonstrable understanding of the key drivers for the mortgage industry and mortgage lending
• Demonstrable understanding of modern banking trends and ability to innovate business practices in line with these trends
• A good understanding of credit risk and portfolio management
• Proven track record of networking and building sustainable business relationships
• Ability to translate strategy into achievable objectives and to develop tactics and plans for delivery
• Ability to drive high performance and to manage a large multidisciplinary team.
• Must have good verbal and written communication skills
• Must have good negotiation, persuading and selling skills
• Sound knowledge of general banking law and practices
