Qualifications, Experience, and Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field.
- Must have a Certificate in Health and Safety (e.g., IOSH, OSHA)
- Understanding of incident investigations, safety audits, and risk assessments.
- At least 3-5 years of relevant experience in occupational health and safety, with at least 2 years in a training or instructional role.
- Strong knowledge of health and safety regulations, policies, and best practices.
Responsibilities
- Design and conduct health and safety training sessions for employees at all levels, including induction, refresher, and specialized training.
- Identify training gaps through risk assessments, audits, and incident investigations to determine areas requiring training intervention.
- Keep training content up to date with local, national, and international health and safety laws, regulations, and best practices.
- Monitor, update, and manage accurate training records and certification databases for staff across the organization.
- Assess training outcomes through feedback, assessments, and observation to ensure knowledge transfer and safety behavior improvement.
- Work closely with department heads, HR, and HSE teams to coordinate training schedules and tailor programs to departmental needs.
- Advocate for proactive safety practices and promote a culture of safety awareness throughout the organization.
- Support the investigation of accidents or near misses and recommend training or refresher programs to address root causes.
- Prepare training manuals, handouts, visual aids, and e-learning resources for various health and safety topics.
