To sustain this momentum, we seek an experienced Human Resources Department Manager to lead our HR strategy, foster talent development, and align our workforce with the company’s evolving goals.

Position Details

  • Job Title: Human Resources Department Manager
  • Location: Kampala, Uganda
  • Employment Type: Full-Time
  • Reporting To: Managing Director
  • Application Deadline: Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic HR Leadership:

  • Design and implement HR strategies aligned with CHINT Uganda’s business objectives across CHINT Electric (electrical/lighting) and Oppein Home (cabinetry/furniture) divisions.
  • Drive workforce planning, talent acquisition, and retention programs to support rapid business growth.

Talent Management:

  • Oversee end-to-end recruitment processes for diverse roles, from technical engineers to retail staff, ensuring alignment with company culture.
  • Develop career pathways, succession plans, and leadership development initiatives for Ugandan and expatriate employees.

Employee Engagement & Compliance:

  • Strengthen employee relations by resolving conflicts, promoting inclusivity, and fostering a high-performance culture.
  • Ensure compliance with Ugandan labor laws, health/safety regulations, and corporate governance standards.

Training & Development:

  • Identify skill gaps and design training programs to enhance technical, managerial, and cross-functional competencies.
  • Collaborate with CHINT/Oppein global teams to integrate best practices into local operations.

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Manage payroll systems, benchmark compensation packages, and refine incentive structures to attract top talent.

Requirements

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field. Master’s degree or HR certification (e.g., CIPD, SHRM) is a plus.

Experience:

  • Minimum 8 years of progressive HR experience, including 3+ years in a managerial role within manufacturing, retail, or multinational organizations.
  • Proven track record in managing HR operations for teams of 100+ employees.

Skills:

  • Expertise in Ugandan Labor laws and familiarity with East African employment practices.
  • Proficiency in HRIS software (e.g., SAP, BambooHR) and data-driven decision-making.
  • Fluent English (written/spoken); knowledge of Chinese (to liaise with global HQ) or local languages (e.g., Luganda, Swahili) is advantageous.

  • Strategic thinker with strong emotional intelligence and conflict-resolution skills.
  • Ability to balance corporate policies with local cultural dynamics.
