Banana Industrial Research Centre (BIRDC) exists to provide a state of the Art banana processing enterprise in Uganda, produce value added Matooke products with competitive market strength both locally and globally, manned by rural farmers/entrepreneurs. The Centre is looking for qualified talented persons to fill the position Human Resources Manager to join the winning team at the Centre.
Job Description
Job Title: Human Resources Manager
Reporting Line: Director Corporate Affairs and Operations
Job Station: Kampala
Job Purpose / Summary
The role provides transformational leadership, direction and guidance towards accomplishment of the strategic initiatives and exercises overall accountability for the day- to-day
operations of the Human Resources Affairs. The prime responsibility is to develop, implement the HR strategy, link it to BIRDC overall strategic objectives and to be able to attract and retain top talent for the key positions who will achieve the company’s mission. .

Duties & Responsibilities
• Develops, oversees and implements the annual HR Strategic Plans.
• Oversees the collaborative efforts of all departments and processes related to HR, Admin and Corporate Affairs and Procurement
• Develops and oversees the implementation of HR policies and processes.
• Develops HR annual performance plans which will enable di
• rectorates to meet their objectives as stated in the Strategic Plan
• Develops, frequently reviews and utilizes metrics related to the HR to ensure attainment of goals and quality measures of the workforce.
• Acts as a transformational change agent and initiates process redesign and continous improvement in all aspects of HR. Leads the preparation and monitoring of the Human Resource
• and Administration budget and develops annual work plans. Anticipates the needs of the organisation's human capital capacity and utilizes data and information to accurately project and adjust to those needs.
• Promote a culture of accountability, integrity and innovation
• Review and approve payrolls.


Qualifications, Experience & Competencies:
• A Bachelor's degree in Social Work and Social Administration] Education form a recognised Institution.
• A master’s level degree with professional qualifications in HR Management, Business is an added advantage.
• Relevant progressive experience of a minimum of 7 to 10 years in Human Capital Development and Management
• Leadership experience in senior management positions for over 5 years.
• Extensive experience in strategy execution, managing change and innovation, policy formulation and direction e influencing positive organisational outcomes
• Strong HR technical and administrative operational expertise
• Track record of implementing change initiatives with successful outcome
• Compliance with a flexibility of work

• Timely implementation of HR strategy
• Skilled and competent staff.

• Timely orientation of staff and well oriented staff
• Timely submission of salary survey reports that can aid in decision-making.
• Timely submission of performance evaluations reports to DCAO


Job Education Requirements: Bachelor's degree


Job Experience Requirements: 7 to 10 years
