JOB DETAILS:
Job purpose:
The role is responsible for the smooth and effective running of Ripple Effect – Uganda’s systems and forms part of a virtual IS team, working closely with the Head of IT, IS and Database Administrator and IS Advisor.
Key accountabilities:
1. Support the Ripple Effect IT team in the setup of 11 new offices and 76 staff
2. Train all Uganda staff on best practise use of systems with an objective to improve Teams, SharePoint and OneDrive usage
3. Be responsible for asset management and device compliance in Uganda
4. Manage Uganda’s external IT support company to ensure issues are resolved promptly
5. Support the implementation of new IT processes across Uganda’s offices
6. Support the move to a Lean IT environment throughout Ripple Effect Uganda’s Offices
7. Support the rollout of new applications, i.e. the HR system and new PO system
8. Implement systems upgrades and IT infrastructure changes in line with RE’s IT standards
9. Oversee software and hardware upgrades and installations, and ensure ccompliance with confidentiality and data protection and security laws and policies
10. Implement security processes for the various systems and network components including MFA & SSPR.
11. Draft procedures and instructions to promote a better understanding of the use of the IT equipment.
12. Troubleshoot system and network problems, diagnosing and solving hardware or software faults
13. Direct any resource within the IT function and ensure all key information sources are running efficiently and provide flawless service to all users.
14. Providing solutions to system failures or coordinating to solve the issues.
15. Configuring and monitoring wireless access points in the entire network.
16. Maintaining and updating Network documentation, operating procedures and business continuity policies.
Learning & skills
HND, DipHE, NVQ5 or equivalent qualification. Or equivalent intermediate level of technical, administrative or supervisory skills gained through experience of working within comparable role.

Communication & interaction
Employs a variety of well-practiced communication and interpersonal skills, when engaging with internal colleagues, and external audiences. Roles at this level typically involve liaison, collaboration, preparing written communication (e.g.,reports and copy) for a variety of audiences/channels, presenting to external audiences and providing training.
Stewardship
1. Occasionally required to assist less experienced colleagues.
2. Assists budget holders with financial processes, such as raising purchase orders, verifying invoices/receipts, or supporting procurement processes.
3. Shared accountability for the maintenance security & integrity of Departmental/Regional systems, materials, equipment, vehicles, buildings or data.
Judgements & actions
Permitted to alter the sequencing of tasks and to make basic judgements and choices in accordance with established procedures, with all non-routine issues being transferred to the Supervisor/ line manager. Any errors of judgement are instantly detected and rectified.
Working environment
Occasionally undertaking tasks involving sustained physical effort. Or occasionally exposed to unpredictable circumstances in the field, which can present a minimal risk to the individual.
Education/Qualifications
1. A technology focused undergraduate degree or a minimum of a diploma in IT/Computer Science.
2. Professional qualifications in Microsoft, CompTIA & Cisco will be an added advantage
Experience
1. 2-3 years’ experience in providing technical support related to hardware and software in a similar role
2. Good working knowledge of M365 applications such as Outlook, Teams and Sharepoint Online
3. A good understanding of how, and the skills needed, to maintain reliable computer systems.
Skills/Abilities
1. Good interpersonal skills, with ability to explain computer and IT concepts to staff who may have very basic IT knowledge
2. Able to effectively manage, operate, repair and maintain PC and local office hardware and software applications.
3. Able to set up and manage internet routers, wifi access points, printers, projectors, scanners
4. Able to work with PC Laptops, Android Tablets & Satellite phones.
5. Willingness to work outside regular office hours including weekends when needed

Essential / Desirable
1. Previous experience in NGO work.
2. Previous experience of Intune and Autopilot an advantage though not essential
