WAZALENDO Savings and Credit Cooperative Society invite applications for the position of
Post: Information System Security Officer
Reports to: Director Operations
Duty Station: Kampala, Uganda
Department: Information & Communication Technology
Responsibilities:
Managing all aspects of infomtation security system, including researching, testing, training and implementing programs designed to safeguard sensitive information for the Organization
Specific tasks:
• Developing and implementing an information security program, with procedures and policies designed to protect communications, programs, systems and assets from internal and external threats
• Ensures viruses, spyware, bots, or other harmful programs are not used to compromise our computer system
• Ensure adherence to policies regarding the use and security of ICT systems by all users.
• Support those unfamiliar with information systems with knowledge on how to maintain them
• Developing awareness programs to stafi about the need for information security
• Monitor all the IT systems and identify threats to security, establish protocols for identifying and neutralizing threats, and maintain updated anti-virus software to block threats
• Setting up ofthe computer usage protocols and facilitating training to minimize IT system threats, and determining which softwares to use
• Investigate cases where the IT system has been compromised and take the appropriate action to resolve the problem
• Embark on continuing education courses to combat the rapidly changing technology and threats
• Participates in specific Risk Management, Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery activities
Required Qualifications
• Minimum BSc, MSc preferred, in information technology or related field
• Must be a certified ICT professional [possesses relevant certification like CISSP, CISM or CISA}
• Knowledge in UNIX, Linux, Solaris, IRIX, SUSE, and MAC operating systems
• Minimum of five years‘ experience in similar role preferably in a financial Institute
