JOB DESCRIPTION AND PURPOSE
The job of the internal Auditor is a contractual job for 4 years renewable on satisfactory performance. The internal Auditor will be responsible to the Audit Committee and reporting directly / or regularly to the General Secretary.

Overall purpose of the role is to provide the National Executive Council and Management with independent and objective appraisals and audit information on financial, operational, administrative and technical activities of the Union.

MAIN DUTIES/RESPONSBILITIES

• The Internal Auditor will be responsible tor ensuring that the systems of the internal controls maintained by the Union are adequate and effective to safeguard its assets, the reliability, accuracy and integrity of management information systems and related policies, plans, procedures and records and their adequacy to effectively accomplish intended objectives; '
  
• The internal Auditor shall appraise the economy and efficiency with which resources are employed to meet objectives and recommend improvements as required for achievement of such objectives; ensure compliance with Union Constitution , rules, regulations, policies and procedures in order to ascertain that the objectives of the Union are accomplished; T
  
• Detect and prevent irregularities and abuses by conducting investigations;
  
• Ensure the implementation of audit recommendations to correct reported internal control weaknesses and/ or deficient conditions and advise management and NEC of the risks (s) assumed of not taking corrective action on reported findings and recommendations;

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

• Bachelor of Commerce or Bachelor of Accounting and Finance (Accounting Option) from a recognized institution;
  
• Member of the institute of Certified Public Accountants of Uganda.
  
• A Master’s Degree in any relevant field will be an added advantage
  
• Good interpersonal, supervisory, communication and analytical skills. Demonstrated writing skills and attention to detail. -Ability to communicate effectively in English. -Proficient in use of the Accounting software.
  
• Minimum working experience of 7 years as Internal Auditor in a reputable organisation;
  
• Familiar with laws, risks, regulations and Acts pertaining procurement, assets management and disposal, budgeting and expenditure control and investigation skills.

Applications are invited from suitably qualified Ugandans to fill the following vacant posts in Uganda National Teachers’, Union (UNATU).

Applications should be submitted in triplicate, to the office of the General Secretary, UNATU, at the Teacher’s House on Plot 28 - 30, Bombo Road, Kampala, to be received not later than 5:00 pm, 5th February 2018.

Applications should bear the title and reference number of the post being applied for.

Applicants should attach certified photocopies of their academic transcripts and certificates, National ID, documentary evidence of all experience claimed, plus recent passport photograph on each application form. Applicants must also provide Reference Letters from three different referees, one being a current or most recent supervisor who should be advised of the closing date to avoid delays. Qualifications from only recognized institutions will be considered.
