JOB DETAILS:
The Social Worker's responsibilities include providing correct information to pupils, parents, and school staff. He/she will conduct counseling to pupils with personal and psychological issues. He will also address relevant issues in the school, menstrual hygiene, sexual violence and response, HIV/AIDS, Abstinence/teen pregnancy, and social adjustment issues. The Social Worker will work with pupils in one-on-one, outdoor, classroom, or school-wide sessions.

Key Duties and Responsibilities;
• Act as the first point of contact for any child protection and safeguarding incidents or concerns.
• Work with the school administration and staff to ensure that the school has appropriate Child protection and safeguarding policy and procedures in place.
• Lead, Spearhead and organize mentorship activities for youth/pupils and empower them with correct career guidance, health messages and moral nurturing.
• Support the Musana Nursery & Primary School in activities geared towards good moral nurturing and that may be deemed necessary in line with MCDO culture.
• Counsel pupils with personal and psychological issues that affect their performance, behavior, and socialization in school.
• Liaise with the School Nurse to assess pupil’smedical needs, monitoring drug adherence, reviews, and counseling schedules as necessary and establishing prevention programs and intervention plans. Also, facilitate youth friendly corners during health camps. Assisting
• teachers and administrators with behavioral and attitude issues by communicating with pupils to find the causes of their distress.
• Provide information, when appropriate, to outside support services to help pupils with economic, emotional, or physical issues.
• Conduct home visits and offer psychosocial support to both the learners and their immediate families.
• Communicate with parents, teachers, and administrators to understand pupils' challenges.
• Maintain case files and reports to track students' progress and problems.
• Helping pupils and families suffering from abuse, violence, or homelessness to access basic resources including medical care.
• Design, organize and facilitate health talks, sensitization and awareness sessions to enable pupils make informed decisions at school.
• Take lead in the routine shine updates.
• Make necessary referrals of relevant clients to the district line departments and or other agencies in line with the provided guidelines.
• Proactively provide information/statistical data for entry into MCDO Information Management System.
• Proactively participate and or support on relevant school programs, events and activities including; assembly, debates, sports, fellowships and others.
• Generate activity reports and maintain a comprehensive and updated filling and documentation of processes, outputs, activities, achievements and challenges for the benefit of documentation and review.
• Ensure adherence to MCDO programs Implementation manual, guidelines, Standard Operation Procedures (SOPs) and protocols.
• Produce timely and quality monthly activity and bi-annual reports and support department in the development of annual reports.
• Generate case studies and interesting stories for use in MCDO newsletters and media sites.
• Be a member of the school disciplinary committee.
• Maintain MCDO branding and visibility during implementation of activities and public events.
• Effectively communicate MCDOs’ identity, mission, vision, values and our approach to coordinate and facilitate development processes effectively towards the well-being of the children, youth and women in the communities.
• Undertake any task as may be asked by Head of Department, Head teacher and or MCDO management.

Education/Knowledge/ Experience.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Social Sciences, Social work and Social administration, Community psychology, Guidance and counseling, Development Studies or public Administration.
• 2-3 years of work experience in a related field.
• Experience working with young people.
• Should be 25 – 40 years of age.
• Should be dedicated to assisting our students, compassionate, and caring.

Other Competencies & Attributes.
• Computer literate and proficient in Ms Office packages, Data handling and usage of Internet.
• Mature, objective, good morals, with strong integrity.
• A background and good understanding of cross cutting issues i.e. education, health, livelihoods, disability, children etc. a MUST.
• Ability to demonstrate participatory and community development skills.
• Good project monitoring and report writing skills.
• Able to work with minimum supervision and able to meet deadlines.
• A background of working in Education, Health and or Skill Development program is an added advantage.
• Exhibit spiritual growth and possess understanding of child rights.
• Judgment and decision making
• Critical thinking and ability to use logic and reasoning to identify the strength and weaknesses of alternatives solutions, conclusions and approaches to problems.
• Understanding of sustainability and measuring the impact
