MSF/EPICENTRE IS RECRUITING IN MBARARA Epicenter is a Non-Government Organization created by Medicines Sans Frontiers (MSF) in 1987 to help improve the quality of its field interventions. Since 1996, Epicenter has been a World Health Organization (WHO) collaborating center for research in epidemiology and response to emerging diseases. Epicenter’s work hinges around three main activity areas: clinical research, field epidemiology and training.

Laboratory Technician (1 Positions)
Location: ‘Epicenter Mbarara Research Centre In (EMBB), Uganda
Reports to: Laboratory manager
Duration: 6 months, renewable
Start date: 11th April, 2017.

General responsibilities (not exhaustive)

• Perform analyses and report results of laboratory procedures performed in the laboratory, according to GCLP standards.
  
• Participate in all laboratory activities: sample collection, hematology, clinical chemistry, smear microscopy, media preparation, others as applicable
  
• Ensure that the procedures are performed following standard operating procedures (SOP)
  
• Participate in the implementation of quality assurance procedures
  
• Participate in follow up of the internal and external quality control
  
• Participate in the regular maintenance of laboratory equipment both internally (daily or weekly procedures) or externally (annual maintenance).
  
• Participate in the biosafety aspects of the laboratory Requirements:
  
• Diploma in Medical Laboratory Techniques. Must be registered with Allied Health Professionals council
  
• Experience in laboratory procedures (Hematology, Clinical chemistry, and microscopy)
  
• Knowledge in using word, excel and power point
  
• Ability to communicate
  
• Experience/knowledge of GCLP and lab safety requirement
