JOB DETAILS:
Role Overview:
As a Legal Officer, you will provide expert legal support and ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations. You will play a critical role in safeguarding the institution’s interests by offering guidance on legal matters and managing legal risks.

Key Responsibilities:
• Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating contracts, agreements, and other legal documents.
• Providing legal advice and support on regulatory compliance and corporate governance.
• Liaising with external counsel on litigation and other legal matters.
• Conducting legal research to support the institution’s decision-making process.
• Ensuring compliance with financial and banking regulations.
• Assisting in the development and implementation of legal policies and procedures.
• Handling any other legal tasks assigned by the department head.

Qualifications and Requirements:
• A Bachelor’s degree in Law (LLB) from a recognized institution.
• A Postgraduate Diploma in Legal Practice from the Law Development Centre (LDC) or its equivalent.
• At least 2-3 years of experience in a legal role, preferably in the financial or banking sector.
• Strong understanding of banking and financial laws, as well as corporate governance principles.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
• High ethical standards and attention to detail.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks effectively.
