Job Summary;
The local Category Manager provides support for the development of category practices for local categories, including support in relation to sourcing strategy definition, deployment, and stakeholder management. The Local Category Manager supports the implementation of Global strategies in the country, to maximise total cost of ownership savings and procurement value contribution. Under the guidance of Regional and Global Category Managers / Directors, he/she supports the implementation of Global Category strategies by supporting strategic sourcing initiatives and procurement optimisation projects. .

Key Duties and Responsibilities
Execute the procurement strategy process and implementation / sourcing execution for a set of local categories in a Cross Functional Team setting
• Lead internal and external analysis (industry and supplier) in collaboration with Regional Category Team, Sourcing Analysts and Category Managers from other countries, as a member of a cross functional sourcing team
• Execute the procurement strategy development process as defined by Global and Regional Category Managers / Directors and involve the Procurement Specialists when appropriate
• Support supplier selection and make recommendations for final decision
• Support fact based negotiations in consultation with the Regional / Global Category Manager / Director
• Ensure stakeholder and local alignments and approvals as required
• Secure knowledge transfer and exchange by creating and storing project deliverables and relevant tools and templates in knowledge repositories
• Establish measures and controls for the country to ensure and track successful implementation in alignment with the global KPI framework.
Executes Local/Regional/Global categories in the country, leads contract implementation & drives contract compliance
• Work in close collaboration with Procurement Specialists and Global Category Managers and Directors to ensure local acceptance of new contracts
• Coordinate contract implementation tasks with Procurement Specialists and users
• Closely monitor internal customers contract compliance, define and take approved corrective actions to improve contract compliance in alignment with the Regional Category Manager/Director and Country Head of Procurement
Manage supplier relationships for local categories
• In line with defined procurement strategy, support the classification and categorization of suppliers, including definition of supplier evaluation and audit policies
• Continuously track supplier performance (utilizing data / reports provided by Sourcing Analyst) • Support supplier development activities; set up cross functional review meetings with suppliers in order to improve performance and further reduce cost
• Initiate and conduct supplier audits according to the globally defined framework under the guidance of Global Category Director / Manager
• Identify potential contract improvement opportunities & re-negotiations
Manage internal customer relationships for local categories
• Manage internal customers feedback on procurement organization and supplier performance • Conduct periodic surveys to measure customer feedback for continuous improvement
• Within the framework of the cross functional sourcing and supplier development teams, closely develop and manage the relationship with internal customers
• Proactively organize sessions with internal customers to identify further TCO/TVO reduction opportunities
• Improve and reinforce procurement’s profile and recognition within the internal customer community
Execute large Spot Buys
• Support the Procurement Specialists/Spot Buyer to source major unplanned ad hoc demands, in alignment with regional category manager, to keep control over high spend utilizing deep sourcing / category expertise in line with the Source to Contract Policy

Required Qualifications skills, attributes and competences.
Educational Requirements
• Must have a Bachelors of Honors Degree in a Procurement and Supply Management or a related qualification from a recognized University.
• Postgraduate qualifications in CIPS or its equivalent is an additional requirement.
• Extensive knowledge and experience of spend area at hand is preferred, with substantial professional experience (3-5 years) in the same functional domain or other related positions
• Advanced skills in the Electronic Procurement, and Enterprise Resource Planning system (ERP) like SAP is an added advantage.
• Must possess a Valid Driver’s license; i.e. 2 years’ experience in driving and accident free.

• Insightful Analysis such as Spend & Demand Analysis, specification analysis, Supply Market & Competitor Analysis and Value Chain & Total Cost Analysis
• Game Changing Strategic competences such as Value Identification, Risk Management & Commodity Modelling, sustainability and Strategy Development
• Relentless Execution competences such as Value Engineering, Tendering, Negotiation and contracting
• Operations Excellence such as Value Pipeline Management, Supplier Management, Category & Supply Chain Expertise and Procurement Applications & Master Data Management.
• Personal effectiveness i.e. Communicating with Impact, drive for results and teamwork • Business Excellence such as Building Relationships, Project Management & Planning and Challenging & Influencing business partners.
• Inspirational Leadership that involves dealing with ambiguity
