Quantum Foods Uganda (formerly known as Bokomo Uganda) a subsidiary of Quantum Food Group Ltd, a South African listed company, is a poultry breeder that has been operating in Uganda since 1999‘ The company produces day one chicks (layers and broilers), commercial eggs and poultry feeds of the highest quality.

Job Summary:

The Maintenance Manager will focus on meeting all the maintenance needs of the Head Office and different operational units situated in Uganda. The incumbent will analyze the maintenance and safety requirement of the breeder poultry rearing and laying facilities and hatchery situated around Kampala as well as the commercial poultry rearing and laying facilities, and feed mill near Masindi.

The job holder is also required to formulate, train, communicate and execute a preventative maintenance plan involving all relevant staff at the operational units. He will also be charged with monitoring progress against a set of benchmarks.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

• Ensure efficient machinery, mechanical and electrical equipment operation by establishing a well-planned preventive maintenance program.
  
• Maintains equipment, parts, and supplies inventories by efficient stock control and procurement strategies.
  
• Provides mechanical and electrical maintenance information and prepare reports.
  
• Continuously maintains technical knowledge.
  
• Maintains continuity among work teams by documenting and communicating actions‘
  
• Compliance with all legislation, including environment, health and safety and exceptional housekeeping.
  
• Ability to manage projects, assist in maintenance budget preparation and continuous cost management.
  

Qualification, Skills and Experience:

• The applicant should preferably hold a relevant mechanical and/or electrical qualification from a reputable training institution.
  
• A minimum of ten years‘ experience in mechanical and electrical maintenance of relevant equipment.
  
• High level of technical knowledge, competency and problem-solving skills
  
• Excellent management and communication skills.
  
• Ability and willingness to take responsibility.
  
• Ability to communicate complex technical issues to his team, to identify training gaps and to provide training where necessary.
  
• Self-motivated, result driven and adaptable to be able to work with minimal supervision.
  
• Excellent interpersonal skills.
  
• Must be fluent in English (speak, read, write).
