Mazima Community Initiative Ltd. is a not-for-profit organization in the Jinja District (Eastern Uganda). Through an innovative and integral approach of community development and social business we are creating Ugandan ownership and self-reliance. For taking our work to a high-end level we are seeking for qualified and self-driven applicants for the following position:

Position 1: Managing Director (MD) full time in the Jinja District

• The MD is the face of the organization.
  
• Will be responsible for the overall implementation of the programme and supervision of all activities within Mazima, which means:
  
• The MD may delegate tasks to others;
  
• The MD will regularly communicate with department directors and Mazima-board;
  
• The MD will appraise the performances of the departments of the company;
  
• The MD will draw overall strategies and implement board policies;
  
• The MD will give direction to, and supervise the company’s businesses and HR issues
  
• The MD will represent the company in various matters;
  
• The MD will fulfil and monitor agreements of the company, including management, invoices payment of bills, including salaries and employee’s social benefits and taxes, if any;
  
• The MD will make sure the account of the company and its financial affairs have been arranged in a reliable and professional manner;
  
• The MD will make sure that the board of directors will receive all information necessary to govern the company with a good performance.
  
• Will be responsible for cost management and managing all company operational costs in collaboration with the accountant.
  
• Will be responsible for the sales marketing and promotions ofMazima including the fundraising function.
  
• Will be responsible for the success of the social businesses.
  
• Will be responsible for supervising construction projects
  
• The MD shall perform other duties from time to time as deemed fit by the board.
  

MINIMAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent with a proven trackrecord of minimal 3 years
  
• Between the age of 28 and 40.
  
• Commercial attitude and entrepreneurial spirit.
  
• Strong vision.
  
• Leadership capacities and have a proactive attitude.
  
• Will work hard to accomplish the task.
  
• Strong affinity with the purposes of Mazima.
  
• Technical skills or insights will be an advantage to apply.
  
• Own vehicle preferred.
  
• A Christian conviction and lifestyle is required
