JOB TITLE: Mechanical Fabricator
Reporting to: Services Engineer

Role purpose:
Using from patterns and blueprints, using a variety of tools and machines to make metal parts or assemble components, a Metal Fabricator prepares, fabricates and welds various metal constructions, components and structures.

Metal Fabricator Duties and Responsibilities
To accomplish the primary goal or creating and welding metal pans and assemblies, Metal Fabricators perform many tasks as follows:

Understand Requirements
The Metal Fabricator must read and understand engineering blueprints and plans to know exactly what is required of any project. They must follow detailed assembly instructions. processes and procedures in all the work they do.

Cut and Fabricate Metal Objects
Metal Fabricators use a variety of tools to work with metal. They operate cutting saws to cut various metals, and weld and grind fabricated structures to meet structural requirements. Ensure quality and Document Work For all work that they do, Metal Fabricators must perform detailed quality checks to ensure that it meets all standards and requirements, They must document work and results, and keep records of labour and materials used.

Metal Fabricator Skill requirement
Detail-oriented and focused, a successful Metal Fabricator is capable of following complex instructions. They work well both independently and as part of a team, and are reliable and conscientious workers. in addition to these general skills and personality traits, employers are seeking Metal Fabricator candidates with the following Skills

Core skills:

• Ability to develop patterns all fabrications.
• Ability to understand oral and written instructions of a technical nature.
• Effective English reading and writing communication skills
• Ability to operate different tools (angle grinders, drilling machine, gas sets, arc and other welding machines)and to troubleshoot equipment problems
• Good interpersonal and teamwork skills
• Physical strength and stamina, Ability to lift in excess of 25 Kgs
• Must demonstrate attention to details, reliability, independence, flexibility and Integrity.
•  Knowledge and practice health and safety at work.

Advanced skills:
Ability to use workshop tools and equipment required for cutting, bending and rolling such as:

1. Press Brake Operator experience
2. Rolling machine
3. Profile cutters
4. Lathe machines etc.

Qualifications and experience:

• At least 3 years in a fabrication environment
• Ordinary diploma in welding and fabrications
• Computer literacy with AutoCAD knowledge being an added advantage.
