JOB DETAILS:
Te-kworo Foundation (TKF) is a community-based organization operating In Acholi Sub-region, committed to providing education, social protection, maternal and child health care and livelihood opportunities to war affected women and children, teenage girls, child mothers and survivors of Sexual and Gender Based Violence. Te-Kworo Foundations’ Medical and Maternal Health Centre (MMCH) program aims at reducing the trend of mortality and morbidity among children five years below and mothers of reproductive age. It is being implemented at a fully registered and licensed medical facility named Kworo Medical Center and Maternity Care Clinic located along Lukole road, Plot 3, opposite Pader Town Council Office Block, Visit www.te-kworofoundation.org to learn more.
The Organization is now seeking to recruit competent personnel to fill her vacancies in the following positions with immediate effect:
Position: Medical Officer
Numbers of vacancies: 01 position
Duty Station: Kworo Medical Centre and Maternity Care, Pader
Contract Duration: 01 Year Renewable
Cover during Absence: Clinical Officer, Head of Nurses
Reporting line: Program Manager
Subordinates: Heads of departments and other staff at the facility

Person Specifications;
Qualifications & Experience;
• Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery from a recognized institution,
• Applicant MUST be fully registered with the Uganda Allied Health Professionals Council.
• Must have a minimum of two years’ work experience in a similar position

Primary Purpose of Job: The core purpose of this role is to provide professional, highly effective quality medical services to the esteemed clients while keeping the confidentiality of the clients that will stimulate high levels of engagement and promote openness of the clients.
Overall Function: To conduct diagnostic, treatment and management of clients; as well as supervisory roles to the Staff at the facility.
Other key relationships: DHOs, Senior Management Team of Te-Kworo Foundation, Departmental Heads, Clients, Ministry of Health, Internal and External Agencies, Service Providers, other Medical Doctors in other Hospitals.

Key Roles & Responsibilities:
a. Strategic Direction
• Take lead in the planning, coordination and management of the Health Department to achieve Te-Kworo Foundation’s Vision and Mission.
• Work in collaboration with the health team to meet Te-Kworo Foundation’s set targets.
b. Process Management
• Cares and keeps the confidentiality of the clients.
• Diagnoses and manage conditions at the facility (in-patient and outpatient case management).
• Participates in routine patients review/daily ward rounds.
• Makes appropriate medical and emergency referrals to the higher facilities or Hospitals.
• Initiates HIV/AIDS testing and link clients for treatment.
• Complements efforts of midwives and Nurses in offering quality maternal and child health services.
• Communicates effectively with clients to promote openness among client.
c. Quality control & services
• Liaises with other medical workers at the facility to deliver quality health care services to patients.
• Takes lead in conducting clinical and mortality audits.
• Ensures timely requisitions of medicines, Stock taking and other supplies.
• Ensures that all medical equipment are functional and well maintained.
d. Coordination work
• Works hand in hand with Senior Program Officer to co-ordinate all medical activities in Pader and Nwoya districts, including outreach activities.
• Ensures that the medical services provided both in Pader and Nwoya districts, meet the required minimum set standards.
• Attends coordination meetings and workshops as may be directed and update the office of the Program Manager or his/her designate from time to time.
• Advices management on the medical issues and supplies needed in the health facility and any concern about management of patients.
e. Management & Documentation
• Adheres to the relevant codes of conduct and ethics.
• Approves monthly work schedules for the department.
• Makes monthly facility reports to the relevant Authorities internally and externally.
• Ensures proper documentation of OPD clients.
• Performs any other related duties as may be assigned from time to time.
f. Support to staff
• Organizes and coordinates continuous professional development for the staff.
• Supervises and mentors other lower cadres and other subordinates for effective and quality service delivery.
• Monitors Kworo Medical Center and Maternity care based on Ministry Of Health guidelines.
g. Risk Management
• Identifies, assesses and develops strategies to mitigate cross infections to clients.
• Maintains compliances of Infection Prevention.
• Ensures safety of medical equipment and other resources of the organization.

Competencies required: Professional knowledge and skills, team player, ability to multi task, excellent communication skills. He or she should prioritize customer satisfaction, manage time properly, be conscious of safety and competent in health education. Computer literacy is a must (MS Word/Excel).
