Job role:
Manage the development, consolidation, and implementation of Projects in accordance with the 5th Strategy Paper and overall ActionAid Uganda aspirations, policies and goals. This role will strengthen AAIU in Programme development for the thematic area, build staff and partner capacity along the thematic area, mobilise resource and grow the projects, create synergies with other thematic areas and ensure rootedness and connectedness of the theme issues from local, national, to regional and international. The role is expected to identify issues within the thematic area that need policy influencing and engagement.
Key Result Areas:
• Oversee the development, planning and implementation of the various projects of AAIU while providing leadership on the implementation
• Coordinate the development of implementation strategies for the projects.
• Lead and provide technical guidance to internal staff and partners in the implementation of the projects.
• Maintain and monitor project plans, project schedules, work hours, budgets, and expenditures. Organize, attend, and participate in stakeholder meetings.
• Document and follow up on important actions and decisions from meetings.
• Prepare necessary presentation materials for meetings.
• Ensure project deadlines are met and determine project changes.
• Provide administrative support as needed.
• Assess project risks and issues and provide solutions where applicable.
• Ensure stakeholder views are managed towards the best solution.
• Undertake resource mobilization tasks in line with CSP and organizational Policies
• Identify potential/ fundable areas and develop concept notes and proposals in line with donor requirements and fundraising strategy
• Provide technical support to partners and staff in the development of concept notes and quality proposals under governance unit
• Provide technical support to donor queries and request for information as requested
• Participate in donor meetings and communicate with potential funders and partners regarding proposal development process.
• Organize donor visits to the project areas and implementation areas.
• Lead the development of annual targets and indicators for the governance unit in liaison with IASL team. Guide the development of TORS for reviews and evaluation of governance programs
• Organize and undertake periodic program monitoring visits and facilitate learning
• Coordinate the management and monitoring of the project to track progress and changes in lives of the target beneficiaries
• Ensure the collection of evidence for policy influencing and campaign's reporting mechanisms
• Make recommendations on changes on set unit strategies where necessary
• Ensure collection, and regular uploading of data on MIS for the governance unit
• Engage in and coordinate local, national, and international policy advocacy and campaign work in line with AA theory of change.
• Plan, organize and participate in policy influencing governance related events and campaigns. Participate in relevant governance sector/cluster meetings.
• Organize awareness raising events on relevant governance policy issues.
• Organize governance related campaigns. Attend meetings and for a at local, national, and international levels related to governance.
• Coordinate the documentation, innovation and packaging of messages, stories of change, newsletter, results, impact and learning in line with Communication strategy and other AAU/I related guidelines.
• Guide the planning and development of advocacy messages and propose strategic guidance on the medium of communication.
• Lead the development and writing of articles and newsletters on Governance programming.
• Work with the regional Coordinators to develop innovative interventions to promote and sustain governance programs
• Contribute to the development of knowledge products of the governance unit
• Initiate, nurture and sustain strategic networks and alliances at all levels in line with AAU/I guidelines and frameworks, periodically map and share formal and informal networks and coalitions on sustainable livelihood in line with AAU guidelines
• Identify, prioritize, nurture, and contribute to the development of capacities of networks, alliances, and coalitions in line with AAU/I capacity development guidelines.
• Identify new and strategic partnerships for networking and collaboration
• Provide feedback and monitor the implementation of agreed actions from networks and coalitions Respond to and follow up information requirements from networks, coalitions, and alliances at all levels.
• Organize and participate in strategic actions and events within AAI federation, civil society, and citizen formations at the different levels
Qualifications, Skills, and Experience
The applicant should hold relevant qualifications, skills, and experience
Qualifications:
• A minimum of Honors Degree Development studies, Social Sciences, Law or any related courses in from a recognized institution.
• Candidates with additional Post Graduate diploma qualifications in Public Administration International Relations, law, Public Policy, Project Planning and Management or any related field is an added advantage. Experience:
• A minimum of five years of related work experience in a reputable organization, preferably an NGO or INGO National public policy advocacy.
