JOB DETAILS:
Busia Area Communities Federation (BUACOFE) is a child protection and development umbrella nongovernment organization comprised of three communities in Busia. The Federation is supported by Child Fund International, Uganda Country Office and works to help deprived, excluded and vulnerable children grow into young adults who are able to cause positive and lasting change in their communities. The Federation has been in existence since 2008 implementing interventions in Health, Nutrition, and Sanitation, Livelihoods, Education, Youth and Early Childhood Development.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Responsible for program development through strategic planning annual operational planning and implementation, resource mobilization by developing competitive funding proposals to the donors.
• Ensure coherence with organization's program approach, linking to key BUACOFE and donor strategies.
• Liaise with all key stakeholders like donors, Partner agencies, national and local government authorities, networks etc. on key technical issues to ensure adherence to best practice approaches and standards.
• Oversee and ensure effective budget management through close monitoring and reporting on financial information.
• Ensure that appropriate controls, systems and procedures are in place in order to ensure the most effective use of resources.
• Lead sponsorship programming including the development and implementation of sponsorship strategic business plans in support of and in alignment with Child Fund strategies and priorities.
• Review strategic implications of sponsorship feasibility and on-going risk management.
• Facilitate the integration of sponsorship in development programs that promote child well-being.
• Ensure effective Human resource management cycle (recruitment, performance management, staff development, compensation for the technical and support team
• Ensure ongoing monitoring and evaluation of all project activities in area Federation to determine the extent to which they are meeting objectives and determine modification faction needed to improve achievements.
• Participate in and/or supervise assessments for new projects as required.
• Serve as security focal point for BUACOFE, providing regular updates and analysis to the Board, staff and other stakeholders as may be required.
• Maintain an overview of the external context in area of operation - political, social, economic and humanitarian - providing regular updates and analysis to the Board, staff and other stakeholders as may be required
• Ensure adequate internal controls for effective and efficient operations of BUACOFE
• Work with BUACOFE Board to ensure adequate policy frameworks and compliance with statutory and Donor requirements and standards.
Qualifications.
Experience supervising and evaluating program support and technical staff with the ability to lead and motivate others. Demonstrated experience in resource and financial management.
Strong planning and organizational skills to meet program goals. Experience of managing the program cycle, including assessments, project design, proposal and report writing, implementation, monitoring and evaluation.
Job Education Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in community development, community psychology, counseling, Social Work and Social Administration, Development Studies or any social science discipline or equivalent relevant work experience. A post graduate Diploma in Project Management is an added advantage.
