Purpose
The Youth, Advocacy and Awareness Agenda at HFW aims at facilitating a process creating communities where all young people are valued, included and have every opportunity to thrive..

  Position Responsibilities
Program Implementation – 60%
This position will work closely with other program teams across HFW Uganda to provide staff training to strengthen youth participation and leadership at a local level, and also build strong relationships within the sector to develop participation and leadership opportunities for young people experiencing risk and vulnerability.
Specifically, the Project Officer will be in charge of;
• Review and update the HFW Youth, Advocacy and Awareness Policy,
• Support the integration of Youth, Advocacy and Awareness programming approaches with other existing programs,
• Design and implement capacity development initiatives for Youth, Advocacy and Awareness targeting HFW staff,
• Coordinating annual calendar of capacity building ‘change making / advocacy’ forums/workshops that enable young people to have a voice, influence decision making and advocate for service and sector change,
• Advocate with and on behalf of young people for positive change and improved services within their communities, the broader service sector, and government social policy development,
• Build strong relationships and collaborative partnerships with peak bodies, youth networks, organizations addressing youth participation, Youth Advisory Committees / consumer groups and foster a cohesive youth centered / led approach and provide foundations for ongoing youth leadership and participation opportunities,
• Develop and implement a clear communications and training plan to ensure young people, staff and stakeholders are aware of youth participation models, benefits and outcomes,
• Contribute to the culture of trust, mutual respect, inclusion and collaboration, information sharing and innovation across making youth involvement visible and accessible,
• Ensure that youth participate in sustainable right to food, and food security activities initiated by HFZs on behalf of HFW and other development partners,
Monitoring, Evaluation, Reporting, and Learning (MEARL) – 40%
• Establishing and maintain a system for management, monitoring and evaluation of the Youth Leadership program and activities including collection and analysis of quantitative and qualitative data/information, and reporting trends and outcome,
• Required to develop and implement monthly, quarterly, and annual work plans for Youth, Awareness and Advocacy activities,
• Preparing monthly, Quarterly, and Annual program reports,
• Contributing and participating in the mid-term and term evaluation of the cooperatives documenting all information related to project successes and best practices, creating a bank of pictures, videos, and most significant change stories on the project, and documenting and reporting initial market assessment findings,


  Education, Experience, and Qualifications
• A bachelor degree in Community Development, Development Studies, Economics, Business Studies, or related fields,
• Previous demonstrated experience in Monitoring, Evaluation, Reporting and Learning is a requirement,
• At least 6 years of experience working in youth, awareness and advocacy focused programs,
• Demonstrated experience in using different communication tools and approaches, as well as social media,
• Demonstrate ability to foster partnerships with community and/or Government agencies/organizations and groups,
• Strong group facilitation and training skills,
• Demonstrated experience in research, monitoring and evaluation, and statistical packages,
• Good oral and written communication skills
