JOB TITLE: PROGRAMME ASSISTANT — LEARNING AND ASSESSMENT REPORTING TO: DIRECTOR- LEARNING AND ASSESSMENT

Overall job purpose The Program Assistant will provide administrative and program support to the Learning and Assessment program.

Key Responsibilities

  • Logistic Support: Provide logistic support to assigned program staff. This includes; travel, drafting of correspondences and minutes taking.
  • Meetings: Assist in preparation of meetings, conferences and seminars. Take a lead in planning for staff retreats, and when assigned, assist in organizing the regional Board meetings.
  • Finance: Track program spending, process bills, monthly credit card reports, and reimbursement requests.
  • Learning : Assist and be a catalyst in ensuring organizational learning: shared learning and engagement between programs, through designing content and facilitating regular all-staff trainings and reflection retreats
  • Evaluation: Assist programs in achieving their ambitions towards evaluation of their work.
  • Program Support: Take part in visits of partners and assist in preparing debriefing documents.
  • Achievement: Assist in identifying exemplary practices to be celebrated in order to enhance the mission of the organization

Person specifications

  • Basic degree in a relevant field.
  • Three - four years' work experience in a similar field.
  • Proven commitment, passion and personal convictions to the protection of human rights
  • Keen about continuous learning for self, and for organization
  • Substantive knowledge of learning and assessment in the Eastern Africa context.
  • Extraordinary initiative, creativity and capacity to think strategically.
  • High energy, inquisitive, with ability to multitask and good planning
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with a diverse array of people.
  • Excellent documentation skills.
  • Team spirit and respectful working and decision-making style.
  • Integrity, high degree of emotional intelligence, diplomacy and professionalism will be essential.
  • Willingness to travel as needed
