Job Purpose To support the implementation of disability advocacy initiatives ensuring alignment with NUDIPU’s strategic direction and policies. Job Summary The Program Assistant is responsible for the day-to-day direct implementation of field activities as shall be assigned by the Programme Officer, in line with the program activities and organizational policies. Main

Tasks and Responsibilities.

1.0 Project Planning and implementation

1.1 Support in the planning and implementation of project activities.

1.2 Develop periodic work plans, budgets, concept notes for activity implementation and report writing.

1.3 Conduct training for 400 PWDS on human rights and Advocacy in Nabilatuk and Amudat districts.

1.4 Mobilize and oversee the process of forming disability structures in the parishes and sub counties of Nabilatuk and Amudat.

1.5 Mobilize and form associations of Girls and Women with disabilities in Amudat and Nabilatuk districts to empower them to advocate for their rights and inclusion.

1.6 Support training for Executive Committees of District Unions and Sub-County Associations on disability inclusion, good governance and Advocacy.

1.7 Identify, coordinate the training of 10 disability champions on disability inclusive approaches and advocacy including sign language interpretation and care taking.

1.8 Supervise and work with disability champions to advocate and follow up on key disability issues with the local service providers. 1.9 Document lessons learnt and success stories to facilitate learning.

1.10 Write and submit activity and quarterly narrative reports to the supervisor.

1.11 Collect and share relevant project information and data in accordance with the project M&E framework.

1.12 Ensure timely submission of project accountabilities.

1.13 Make appropriate arrangements and prepare logistics for meetings and trainings

2.0 Resource mobilization

2.1 Participate in fundraising initiatives of the organization including, writing proposals, local fundraising, supporting endowment funds, among others in order to ensure sustainability of the organization.

2.2 Develop strategies aimed at increasing resources for the district to ensure disability and gender inclusive mainstreaming.

2.3 Support overall development and sustainability of the District Union.

3.0 Other tasks and Responsibilities

3.1 Participate in the organization's key events

3.2 Represent the organization in relevant for a at district level.

3.3 Network with other organizations in the field of Human Rights Advocacy and disability empowerment at district level.

3.4 Support and participate in other programme area activities when required

3.5 Ensure that resources under your care are properly deployed and utilized

3.6 Ensure vulnerable people such as the most marginalized disabilities (aged, youth, women & children) participate in NUDIPU activities

3.7 Undertake all necessary actions to protect and promote the image and brand of NUDIPU. In addition to individual respective tasks, all NUDIPU employees are expected:

• To adhere to organizational values and to actively promote their application.

• To undertake tasks in a creative, self-driven and innovative fashion.

• To identify and implement new ideas/concepts and additional tasks for the benefit to the organization (whether directly linked to one’s job or not).

Education and experience Academic qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in human Rights, Law, Disability Studies or other related discipline in Humanities.

• A postgraduate diploma in project planning and management, human Rights and ethics will be an added advantage.

Industry experience

i. Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in project implementation, preferably in disability rights, community development, or advocacy programming.

ii. Knowledge of national and international instruments like; 1995 constitution of Uganda as amended and UNCRPD and implementation of disability inclusion in community development programs.

iii. knowledge of national policies that guard against abuse of rights of Persons with Disabilities.

iv. Must have experience in coordinating activities at the lower local government and ready to work in Karamoja Region.

v. Applicants should be fluent in the local languages and ready to reside in the respective districts of Karamoja region -Amudat and Nabilatuk.

vi. lived experience of disability.

Technical Skills

i. Proposal writing, Project planning, implementation and monitoring.

ii. administrative and coordination skills;

iii. Strong written and oral communication skills; and

iv. computer application skills (excel sheet, Microsoft office)
