We have been in Uganda since 1952 and work alongside UK government partners British High Commission (BHC) and Department for International Development (DFID) to facilitate and strengthen the relationships between UK and Uganda. Globally British Council operates as 8 regional business units. Uganda is in the Sub-Saharan African region and as such aims for close collaboration where appropriate with nearby countries in achieving its objectives.

British Council Uganda seeks to recruit a suitable candidate for
the following position to be based in Kampala, Uganda.

Programme Manager - Education & Society
Reports to: Director
Location: Kampala

Purpose of the Job:

  • To provide the technical expertise and skills needed to position the British Council Uganda as a key player in Education and Society sector in accordance with strategic priorities of regional
    country office.
  • To oversee the quality of the current project portfolio through monitoring and evaluation of projects and their efficiency in terms of value for money in order to meet or exceed British Council's objectives, targets and partner expectations in Uganda.
  • To build and manage external and internal relationships with key governance stakeholders including the International and Local development partners, consultants, service providers and British Council governance/society teams in the region and the UK.
  • To identify, pursue and secure funding opportunities within the Education and Society portfolio in line with regional and country key strategic priorities. He/She will also have a British Council
    representational role whenever this supports country office needs.
