JOB DETAILS:
Abaana Ministries, a Christian NGO dedicated to empowering vulnerable children, invites applications from mature Christians for a key programme management position.
Purpose
To provide managerial oversight so all programmes run effectively and efficiently, ensuring processes and policies enhance the impact and taking the lead in monitoring and evaluation.
Duty station
Kira, Wakiso, with 30% of the time in the field (short-term travels around Kampala and upcountry)
Qualifications and skills
• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field is essential (e.g., Social Work & Social Administration, Social Sciences, Development studies or a related field)
• Master’s Degree in a relevant field is desirable (Development Studies, International Development, or a similar field).
• Qualifications in Project Planning or M&E are an added advantage.
• Must be proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and online communication.
Experience
• At least five years in a supervisory and managerial role in an NGO.
• At least seven years in project or programme implementation, preferably in a Christian NGO working with the poor or those classed as vulnerable.
• Knowledge of project management methodologies.
• Experience with monitoring and evaluation frameworks, tools, and methodologies.
• Experience in managing plans, budgets, and finances including forecasting and reporting.
• At least three years of driving (manual and automatic preferred) with a clean driving permit.
• Must be willing to travel occasionally to the field including northern Uganda for a week or so.
Key Duties
• Develop and implement programme strategies and plans aligned with Abaana’s mission and goals.
• Review and improve all documents related to activity implementation (plans, reports, monitoring tools).
• Conduct needs assessments and research to identify programme opportunities.
• Support Department Managers in the implementation of all activities, including grant agreements, and ensure all reporting requirements are fulfilled.
• Support the Executive Director in developing and maintaining partnerships with schools, service providers, and other NGOs.
• Support Department Managers in the development of relevant policies, systems, and procedures and ensure organisational ones are fully implemented.
• Oversee construction, in partnership with other staff including the Engineer and any Abaana staff assigned to oversee operations.
• Participating/leading in devotions and prayer meetings.
