Cardno is seeking to recruit a dynamic, highly competent and qualified person to take up the position of a Project Accountant to be based in Kampala.
Reporting to both the Senior Finance Manager in Washington and the Country Manager in Uganda, the incumbent will be a highly detail oriented person, possess high drive for results, able to perform independently with minimum supervision, prioritize workloads, complete multiple tasks under deadline pressure and a proven team worker.
Responsibilities and Job purpose
• Reviewing and recording monthly Field Reports in Navision
• Reviewing project related Accounts Payable invoices tor compliance and coding
• Providing guidance to Field Accountants and Project Managers regarding financial/accounting issues and USAID regulations
• Assist Project Team with budget tracking and Estimates to Complete
• Prepare monthly invoices to clients including NICRA adjustments
• Work with Project Managers to identity and resolve any discrepancies relating to billings
• Respond to clients queries and prepare ad hoc financial reporting, as needed
• Resolve billed and unbilled Accounts Receivable issues
• Conduct regular desktop reviews of monthly field financial reports tor accuracy, allow ability, and reasonableness
• Prepare monthly GIL Reconciliations
• Assist with preparation of annual incurred Costs Submission
• Assist and support annual, project and US Government audits
• Assist with financial and compliance audits for field offices
• Other duties as assigned
Minimum Education Required:
• A Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
• Possession of ACCA ICPA or at Final stage is desired
Required Minimum Experience and Skills:
• Minimum of 3 years of accounting experience with a government contractor working with USAID programs is desired.
• Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR).
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Possession of Advanced Skills in Microsoft applications and QuickBooks.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics NAV (Navision) preferred.
