JOB DETAILS:
Job Summary
Under the supervision of Health Coordinator, the Project Assistant will provide direct oversight to the implementation and quality delivery of integrated mental health program in the location of program implementation.

Duties and responsibilities:

• Lead the field teams in the integration of mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS) with other programs using 2P-ICLEM model i.e. HIV/AIDS, Sexual Reproductive Health, General Food Assistance/ Cash Based Transfer, Livelihood etc
• Enhance capacity of integration of MHPSS and clinical management of referred cases through on job trainings of facility based health workers.
• Develop annual/quarterly/monthly work/activity plans, follow up the implementation of plans and ensure timely review/adjust them to achieve committed target.
• Collaborate with community structures to Identify and train local outreach workers/volunteers in Grouped Interpersonal Therapy (IPT-G) and how to conduct community outreach, case finding and referral of severe cases for case management at health facilities. Volunteers will be selected from various existing groups i.e. VHTs, LRAs, CG-DOTSs, farmer groups etc.
• Support community volunteers in community mobilization, case screening and enrolment of eligible clients into IPT-G.
• Strengthen community mobilization and sensitization through tailored family and community dialogues, at established friendly spaces at FDPs, radio talk shows, digitalized SMS messages etc.
• Spearhead the formation of support groups aimed at ensuring continuum of care/ treatment adherence, follow ups of defaulters, referral of severe cases etc.
• Establish health facility- community linkage networks to improve referral of severe cases for clinical care.
• Conduct monthly support supervision of the project
• Prepare project progress reports, success stories and lessons learned during project implementation.
• Prepare presentations for progressive and evaluation meetings (internally & eternally)
• Participate in district and community level coordination and cluster meetings aimed at advocacy for integrated MHPSS and leverage of resources to maximize project outputs.
• Perform any other duties that may be assigned.

Minimum qualifications & experience required.
Education

• Diploma in Nursing or Clinical Medicine is preferred. Bachelor’s degree in public health or Social works is an added advantage.

Experience
• Minimum of four (4) years’ experience in a primary health care program.
• Previous experience of working in a mental health facility or community programs in a humanitarian context is an added advantage.
• Experience in budget management
• Experience in behavioral change programming.

Core Competencies
• Excellent report-writing skills is required including MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
• Team management experience with similar programs.
• Ability to work under tight deadlines, juggling multiple competing tasks and prioritizing demands
• Ability to work in a multi-cultural and diverse team.
• Excellent interpersonal, organizational and communication skills, English fluency (spoken and written).
• Counseling skills.
• Community mobilization and sensitization.
• A good understanding of depression and how to treat it using IPT-G.
• Experience in mental health and protection work with displaced persons, refugees, returnees.
