JOB DETAILS:
Department Purpose
To work with others in ensuring that the nexus of promoting human rights in doing business targeting the Education, Health Care, and Extractives Industries sectors and enhancing community voices contributes to Oxfam in Uganda’s Values to find lasting solutions to extreme inequality and injustice.

Team Purpose
To work with the project team for improved advocacy on human rights and doing business in Uganda with a focus on key inequality-reducing social sectors i.e. transformative education, health care, and extractives industries/energy by ‘’enhancing community voices’’ and effectively mainstreaming the work across the three (03) different pillars of the G&A program.

Job Purpose
• The position involves working closely with the Coordinator Transformative Education, Coordinator Finance for Development, Coordinator Extractives and the Governance and Accountability Manager while implementing project activities. The Project Assistant will routinely update the project team on project performance.

Job Responsibilities
Partner support: 70%
• Work closely with the Coordinator Transformative Education, Coordinator Finance for Development, Coordinator Extractives, and the Governance and Accountability Manager Program Manager to support in the Implementation of the project.
• Ensure timely reporting of partners in compliance with donor and Oxfam procedures/reporting requirements and consolidate partner reports.
• Offer support in the preparation of human rights and doing business project proposal documents, project summaries, and project reviews.
• Provide appropriate support to partners implementing the project in all aspects of project cycle
management.
• Support partner organizations to work in accordance with Oxfam standards and objectives.
• Support the CSO coalition members on human rights and doing business in Uganda including coordination-related tasks.
• Conduct regular performance assessments and reviews of partner organizations and provide guidance on enhancing the quality of projects.
• Actively participate in regular meetings with partner organizations and relevant value chain multi stakeholder platforms.
• Ensure that all action points/recommendations agreed upon with partners during project reviews are followed through during project implementation.
• Ensure that partner project plans, proposals, work plans, and budgets are developed in line with the OCS.
• Support with partner contracting process, implement and monitor the agreements reached with the consortium or the implementing partners.
• Provide Administrative and Logistical Support during project implementation.
• Any other duties as provided by the line manager.

Implement the MEAL
System: 30%
• Closely work with the partners to mutually agree on detailed operational plans, budgets, indicators as well as monitoring, evaluation and learning framework.
• Conduct regular monitoring visits to partners and ensure that reports are written on each visit and shared with the line manager.
• Actively contribute to organizational learning through systematic documentation, monitoring, evaluation and sharing of information with partners and the relevant programme teams.
• Constructively support partners‟ management of projects in the various stages of project cycle management, from project appraisal to reporting.
• Support the project finance officer to monitor partners’ financial reports and ensure that regular partner audits take place.

Job Requirements
Essential
• Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Governance, Development studies, Economics, Law, Social sciences, International Development, and any related field from a recognized university.
• At least 1 year of experience and knowledge in human rights, civic engagement, digital rights
• Excellent coordination, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Strong commitment to ending inequality and injustice.
• Passionate about promoting human rights, business, civic engagement, or public finance management etc.

Education:
• A Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Governance, Development studies, Economics, Education, Law, Social Sciences, International Development, and any related field from a recognized university.

Experience:
• At least 1 years’ experience of work in development context projects, preferably in human rights, civic engagement, and digital rights or in project management roles.
• Basic understanding of Project Planning and Management.
