PURPOSE OF THE P0SITlON The Projects and Facilities Manager will be responsible for the structural integrity, quality and management of the construction and engineering related Fields of Life school building and other Infrastructure projects.

Key Responsibilities: Engineering

• Coordinate and supervise the construction of new school buildings and organize the planned upgrading maintenance work for the existing buildings and additions schools
  
• Ensure that all due diligence process on proposed projects
  
• site surveys, commissioning and land title checks are carried out
  
• Work closely with the FOL planning committee to follow up on acceptance of beneficiary’s project proposal
  
• ln consultation with the beneficiaries, liaise with and advise approved professionals/consultants regarding FOL's requirements for the projects
  
• Maintain all the necessary engineering documentation; approved plans, copy of contract, reports completion certificates
  
• Ensure that any defects are documented and resolved on a timely basis
  
• To network with other organizations in the sector and research best practice in school building projects

Project Management

• Work closely me proposals committee to appraise ne proposals for projects
  
• Ensure that construction activities move at: circling to schedule
  
• Monitor the progress of the construction activities and hold regular status meetings with contractors and the beneficiaries.
  
• Maintain adherence to the budgetary guidelines, quality, and health and safety standards.
  
• To work closely with beneficiaries and donors to ensure the projects meet targets and purposes.
  
• Ensure that all the relevant project documents are completed and filed.
  
• Prepare interim, final and ad hoc reports where necessary for donors.
  
• To provide timely project status reports and monthly activity reports

Key Qualifications and Experience

• Minimum 4 years’ experience in construction management / architectural designl engineering field role with.
  
• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Quantity surveying or construction management.
  
• Experience of working on school building projects and work in the voluntary and development sector
  
• A post graduate qualification in Project management or a relevant field is an added advantage
  
• Ability to drive long distances and extended trips through out East Africa
