( www.thejohanniter.or g) is a German Christian non-governmental organisation, dedicated to excellence in the field of first aid, ambulance service, social service programmes and other pro-jects in the medical and social field. The Federal Headquarters are based in Berlin, Germany. Johanniter International Assistance is the operational unit for humanitarian aid, development co-operation and emergency relief, implementing and supporting mostly health projects worldwide.

Project Description
The overall objective of Johanniter in Uganda is to contribute to reduce morbidity and mortality by improving the health and nutrition status and reducing the vulnerability of people. Furthermore, improved access to wa-ter, sanitation and hygiene and improved food security is an essential part of Johanniter Uganda programme. Currently, Johanniter has projects in former Western Nile, North and Western Uganda. The projects focuses on four strategic directions of Johanniter: health, nutrition, WASH and food security and livelihood (FSL).
Johanniter works through national and indigenous organizations in the implementation process as well as collaborates with local authorities including ministries of Health and other partners..

Job Responsibilities and Accountabilities
Overall job purpose
Working directly under the responsibility of the Head of Mission in Uganda, the Projects Coordinator (PC) will be responsible for the overall coordination, technical representation and oversight, implementation, guidance and quality of the projects implemented by Johanniter Uganda partners, these includes both emergency and long-term interventions in Uganda. Currently Johanniter has projects in North, West Nile and Western Uganda all implemented through National organizations/ partners.

Receives technical advice from: M&E. HQ and Regional Technical advisors,
Gives technical advice to: N/A
Standing in for: TBD
Replaced by: HoM/ TBD
Tasks
Project Management (40%)
• Coordinate and supervise the implementation (planning, monitoring and evaluation) of the projects.
• Responsible for meeting project objectives through the partners.
• Responsible for projects budget implementation monitoring.
• Provide technical supervision and technical support to Johanniter programming activities (Nutrition, health, WASH, FSL).
• Ensure that the programme utilizes standardized protocols, policies and guidelines defined by Johan-niter, donors, Ministry of Health amongst other.
• Report regularly to the Head of Mission and other stakeholders depending on projects.
• Oversee the collection and timely reporting of data and statistics for all projects in line with Johanniter and nutrition/health/WASH cluster guidelines and according to internal and donor requirements.
• Ensure all stakeholders, are provided with updates, following the established reporting structures.
Project Development (30%)
• Recognise further needs in the area of Health, nutrition, FSL and WASH.
• Do / supervise assessments and write project proposals.
• Support in developing local strategy.
• Staff and Partners Development (10%)
• Supervise other projects staff in collaboration with HoM.
• Ensure capacity building of local partner organizations and project related staffs to have quality in the implementation and entire Project Cycle.
Strategic Planning, Leadership and Representation (20%)
• Represent Johanniter International Assistance when liaising with local authorities and partners, in coordi-nation with other NGOs, UN, donors, etc.
• Contribute to the development of the Johanniter Uganda strategic plan in cooperation with HoM.
• Ensure that key information is shared between Johanniter and partners as maybe required
• Foster a positive and inclusive work environment dedicated to the core values and mission of the Johan-niter in Uganda.
• Ensure in cooperation with Finance department and cross-departmental communication is efficient and effective for smooth running of the Johanniter projects.
• Attend heath, nutrition and WASH cluster meetings at Kampala level.


Person Specification
Professional Qualification and Experience:
The Project Coordinator needs to hold a BSc or MSc degree in a relevant field, preferably in public health
and/or nutrition.
• At least 3 years of experience in project coordination in a humanitarian context /international de-velopment
• Experience in coordinating health/ nutrition/ WASH projects including project accounting and man-aging of donor funds (EU, UN, German Foreign Office and Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development etc.)
• Experience in M&E, writing proposals and reports
• Experience in staff management and capacity building
• Experience in working with international and national partners, donors, health and other authorities
• Experience in conducting health and/or livelihood baseline assessments (including SMART sur-veys)
• Experience working in a similar humanitarian context
• Experience in coordinating FSL projects is a plus
• Previous working experience in emergency programming is desirable

Terms and Conditions
Possible Start date: Saturday, February 15, 2020
Contract duration: Definite contract for one year (with possible extension)
