About GHC:
Global Health Corps pairs intelligent and passionate fellows with organizations that require new thinking and innovative solutions. We currently place fellows in Malawi, Rwanda, Uganda, the United States, and Zambia.

About Spark MicroGrants:
Over the past seven years, Spark MicroGrants has worked with excluded communities in East Africa and beyond, offering a village strengthening approach that combines facilitation, capacity building and a village grant, with the aim of increasing civic engagement, inclusive participation, and collective actions. Spark works to enable community members - women and men, young and old - to collectively define their goals for the future and to make progress on those goals through community driven initiatives, with the ultimate aim of enabling citizens to determine their own positive future. Through facilitated weekly meetings, Spark provides capacity building including financial literacy, project management and budgeting. Within six months, villages develop a project plan aligned with their priority areas and Spark provides a seed grant of $8,000 to launch the community’s social impact project and an additional two and half years of support. The Spark approach has been designed to ensure that communities are well-equipped to independently work towards their goals after they graduate from the Spark process.

Job Summary: The Quality Assurance Officer (QAO) will act as a critical support to Spark’s program team through assessing and evaluating program quality, producing key reports, and developing materials and tools based on the emerging quality improvement strategies. The QAO will be responsible for documenting program design adaptations, especially those related to working with local government and resolving context specific issues, and will support in the production of tools and materials needed by the team - including training materials and guides. These tools, materials, and curricula will be crucial to improving Spark’s program and scalability, especially regarding how Spark targets rural family nutrition, food security, and livelihoods across three districts in Rwanda. Based in Gulu, the Fellow will also support the Program team in developing their local government outreach strategy to ensure that Spark community partners are receiving the external support needed and able to implement their own projects with high quality. In this regard, the QAO will shape discussions to gather inputs, feedback, and recommendations from the team, local government, and communities. The QAO must have a high attention to detail and ability to plan and manage multiple projects. Spark is scaling rapidly and the fellow will be in a unique position to provide the necessary tools to improve Spark’s impact and reach within Uganda.
