Kenya Re is rated B (Fair) q. AM Best and AA by the Global Credit Rating Company (GCR). Kenya Re now seeks to recruit and fill the following positions for its office in Uganda.
The Position
The successful candidate will be the Regional Manager /Principal Officer of the Regional Office. He or she will be required to offer services that will enable the Corporation to grow the premium income by at east 30% per year in the East Africa region. He or she will report to the General Manager (Reinsurance Operations) at the Head Office in Nairobi/ Kenya..

Primary Responsibilities
He/she will also be required to be accountable for, but not cited. to the following key areas:
• Setting up the office that will be based in Uganda, ensuring me: al legal and statutory regulatory requirements are complied with.
• Developing business strategies and operational budgets for growth and profitability.
• Managing reinsurance business in the region and provide Technical support and advice on strategic directions to management.
• Development of strategic marketing plans in line with the O:»r:»»:'a:ion’s mandate and Board expectations.
• Sourcing of cultivate and treaty reinsurance in the East Africa "effect to support the Corporation's marketing strategies.
• Preparation and management of marketing activities and gets for the markets in Uganda and Eastern Africa to support corporate marketing strategies.
• Planning for and developing staff in the Regional Office.
• Managing the office for optimal operational performance.
• Providing Management and the Board with information on ace-rational aspects of the office.
• Liaising with the General Manager (in charge of Reinsurance operations) to ensure participatory approach to the management of the reinsurance business to effectively satisfy the needs of the Corporation and of the business mandate.
• Management of statistical and actuarial information and intelligence reports.
• Dealing with all aspects of allocated markets including premium, claims, cash-calls, commutations, recoveries and debt collection processes.
• Any other duties that may arise from time to time relating to corporation’s activities.

The Person
• Applicants should be holders of a Bachelors degree in Busairess. insurance, Marketing or related fields. The person(s) should be holders of an MBA or Masters in a related field of expertise.
• They should be holders of Advanced Diploma in insurance equivalent and hold membership in recognized insurance professional bodies.
• They should have twelve years of relevant experience, should have been at senior management level gained in a reputable organization preferably in insurance, reinsurance or related institution

  Skills:
• The right candidate for this position must have the ability to think strategically and to design long-term plans in addition to being a visionary leader. They must have proven intellectual leadership in maraging people and financial resources and must have established a reputation for outstanding performance. Other key skills include:
• Excellent interpersonal, management and communicator
• Excellent organization skills and highly confidential.
• Team player with impeccable integrity.
• Computer literacy and familiarity with standard office computer applications.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
