PEAS (Promoting Equality in African Schools) is a UK based charity/social enterprise with a mission to ‘expand access to sustainably delivered, quality secondary education across Africa‘. PEAS establishes and operates low-cost secondary schools in Uganda and Zambia in areas where access to quality secondary education is limited due to cost and geographical barriers. PEAS‘ interventions are built upon 3 pillars of education impact; Access, Quality and Sustainability. Since opening its first schools in 2008, the PEAS network has grown to 30 schools, and we are currently educating over 13,000 students. PEAS has a small team of about 10 people in London who provide fundraising, programme and management support to the country teams. PEAS Uganda has about 50 staff at the Country Office team and over 600 staff working in the network schools. PEAS Uganda is seeking to urgently fill the following vacancies
Regional Manager
Role Summary:
Reporting to the Deputy Country Director ~ Programmes, the Regional Manager series as an integral member of the Extended Senior Management Team (SMT) and is responsible for delivering organisations region-wide results on a day-to-day basis. The role works closely with the Deputy Country Director of Programmes and the Deputy Country Director Operations based in Kampala and other functional unit heads. Responsible for contributing to development and implementation of PEAS strategy in the region. Oversee operations, talent management, financial accountability, representation of PEAS in the region in consultation with relevant colleagues in the secretariat and ensuring each school makes rapid and sustained progress in improving access, quality and sustainability. The Regional Manager plays a central role in implementation of relevant PEAS policies especially ensuring zero tolerance to child protection issues. RM is responsible fur ensuring value for money and sustainable use of all PEAS resources in the region and maximizing opportunities for coordinating learning to increase on impact. Person Specification
Essential
• Degree in Social Sciences, Social Works and Administrations, Development Studies, Education with bias to management.
• Minimum of 3 years mid senior, management and leadership experience in programme and operational capacity
• Able to work v/ell under pressure and deliver work with high levels of accuracy to tight deadlines across a range of internal and external stakeholders.
• Experience in implementing organisation policies across finance, operations, and HR, together with overseeing operational adherence.
• Experience performance management skills to ensure key deliverables are achieved on an individual. departmental and organisation wide basis. '
• Experience in budgeting, cast" flow management and monthly management accounts reporting and overall management of financial systems and processes.
• Able to make high quality business decisions on a timely basis that ensure the effective and efficient functioning of the organisation and ‘value for money’.
• Able to get things done by focusing on solutions as opposed to problems and able to see the big picture while demonstrating excellent attention to detail
• Able to work effectively with staff of all levels.
• Good judgment and creative problem solving skills including negotiation and conflict resolution skills
• Good communication skills (both oral and written)
Desirable
• A Master's degree in relevant field is an added advantage.
• Experience in working with dispersed and diverse team
• Experience of working in a not for profit setting.
