Vacancy: Regional Program Development Officer, southern Africa (RPDO)- Kampala
Samaritan‘s Purse is seeking to hire a mature. qualified and experienced Person with Master's degree (M. A.) or equivalent in international Development two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Study in a related field andl or strong field based experience will be considered.
Job Summary
The Regional Program Development Officer (RPDO)—Southern Africa will work throughout the southern Region as a part of the International Program Development Unit. The RPDO wlll focus on supporting and coordinating SP Field Offices as lt relates the pursuit and development of programs and grant proposals in the regions. The RPDO provides consulntion in processes related to program and grant proposals to include writing, editing and the compilation of lessons learned. The RPDO will provide technical assistance to Samaritan’s Purse (SP) field offices in designated regions. .

Duties & Responsibilities
• Provide oversight for the development of all programming and proposals for SP Southern Africa field offices and other areas as assigned using current SP program models and best practices. On occasion the RPDO will be asked to assist in the initial program implementation of proposals they write.
• Build capacity of SP Southern Africa field offices in general program development skills, behavior change communication, and qualitative evaluation skills.
• Build relationships and assess partnership opportunities on behalf of SP Southern Africa field offices with bilateral donors.
• International Non-governmental Organizations, and other agencies.
• Be aware of grant opportunities in the region and work in conjunction with regional directors on pursuing those opportunities.
• Align with the various SP Country Directors regarding the rules and regulations of the field office and ensure that they are aware of all meetings, progress and ideas being formulated. Ensure standardization of proposals and reports in line with donor and SP template and protocols as well as with program wide strategies.
• Create and maintain proposal timetables to ensure timely review and submission of proposals. Timelines should allow appropriate time for the input/review by the Awards Management Team and
• Program Development Team for all proposal submissions. RPDO will facilitate with PDO the addressing of comment: and feedback within the review process.
• Create and maintain reporting schedule for all awards and facilitate accurate and timely reporting to appropriate agencies.
• Serve as the main liaison/initial point of concoct on all proposals and related agreements, reports and amendments.
• Travel to field sites to better understand the operational environment and challenges faced in project implementation and to provide guidance on donor and Samaritans Purse internal rules and regulations.
• Other duties as assigned.

• Ability to write reports, proposals, and business correspondence. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, donors. and the general public.
• Ability to add. subtract. multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions. and decimals.
• Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts. and draw valid conclusions.
• Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
• Commitment to the Samaritans Purse statement of faith and experience in working with cross-cultural and cross denominational Christians.
• Technical writing skills including developing proposals. training instruction manuals, and reports
• Knowledge of basic public health skills such as monitoring and evaluation; utilizing information. education and communication; and program management
• Field experience in the implementation of relief and development Programming
The candidate should be personable and result orientated to fill the position of Regional Program Development Officer Southern Africa. S/he will be based in Kampala Office and should be willing to travel in and out of the country extensively. Must agree with and uphold the values
