JOB DETAILS:
Classification: Contract, Full-time
Reporting to: Research Manager(s)
Salary: Commensurate with training and experience
Duty Station: IGREC Head Office, Kampala

Key Duties and Responsibilities
• Plan, coordinate and executed assigned research projects
• Assist the Research/Project Managers in developing annual work plans and preparing periodic reports.
• Lead research team to complete projects within allotted timelines and budgets.
• Participate in the development of research policies and procedures
• Support the Research/Project managers in developing and designing activity materials i.e Training manuals. Protocols, etc.
• Assist in the preparation of project documentation and research reports for management review.
• Monitor and report project progress, status and issues regularly to management.
• Plan and coordinate all aspects of multiple research projects across multiple sites.
• Participate with a team in the development and authoring of research protocols.
• Develop an implementation plan for research projects.
• Oversee the design of databases, data collection forms, error checking methods, and related programs for collection, analysis, and reporting.
• Use statistical software to analyse data and interpret results.
• Write data management and operations documentation for projects.
• Ensure that the relevant research methodology is applied and all research material is handled in accordance with established protocols, policies, and procedures.
• Develop presentations and present information and training sessions to project personnel and project participants.
• Implement and maintain research project budgets.
• Support the other associates with designing training curricula, designing evaluation framework, implementing training curricula, implementing evaluation frameworks, writing interim and final reports
• Plan, manage and execute external and internal engagements independently from start to finish with limited supervision
• Effectively manage the needs of stakeholders through proactive communication and troubleshooting.
• Contribute to project on-boarding and off-boarding for knowledge management.
• Responsible for project timelines, deliverables, reports, and staffing
• Contribute to the design, execution, and dissemination of IGREC research projects
• Contribute to skills-building workshops for Associate teams
• Communicate across organizational teams to ensure a healthy and functioning organization
• Assist with internal initiatives where necessary.
• Serve as mentors to programmers and Project Lead team members, when requested.
• Perform any other duty as may be assigned by the Research Managers

Knowledge, Skills and Experience: Minimum Requirements
• A Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Social Sciences, Public Policy, or related fields
• Existing work authorization in Uganda, and living, or willing to relocate to Kampala
• A minimum of three years’ experience working in research organization
• Prior experience in writing reports and policy briefs is preferred
• Past experience with organizational training and/or capacity building
• Excellent oral and written communication skills in English.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate with a diverse range of stakeholders
• Excellent individual and group-based exercise facilitation, and oral presentation skill.
• Demonstrates the ability to manage high-level relationships with partner organizations
• Excellent management and organizational skills.
• Flexible, self-motivating, able to manage multiple research projects efficiently.
• Interest and experience working in a fast-paced working environment.

Desired Qualifications:
• A Master’s degree in Economics, Social Sciences, Public Policy, or related field
• Experience managing or mentoring staff.
• Experience managing large-scale research and consulting projects in developing countries
• Familiarity with randomized controlled trials is preferred
• Familiarity with STATA and SurveyCTO

Location
This position is based in Kampala head office and field when project is running.

Start date

There is preference for candidates that can start immediately.

Work Authorization
IGREC will not sponsor employment visa for non-Ugandans for this position; we will prioritize candidates who do not require work permit to work in Uganda.

Compensation
Compensation and benefits are commensurate with the qualifications and experience IGREC is hiring for and competitive within Uganda. Other benefits IGREC staff will include health insurance, sick leave and more.
