Uganda Debt Network (UDN ) is a national policy advocacy organization that promotes and advocates for poor and marginalized people to participate in influencing poverty-focused policies, demand for their rights and monitor service delivery to ensure prudent, accountable and transparent resource generation and utilization www.udn.or.ug  ). With support from the Democratic Governance Facility, UDN is implementing the, "Strengthening Citizens’ Organizations Participation &Engagement (SCOPE), May2018-April 2021”. UDN now Desires to recruit a Research Fellows,(RF-Roads) and RF-Health focused on the Roads and health sector in Uganda. These are project specific jobs which will spearhead relevant policy action research, development of high-quality policy advocacy products and advocacy initiatives, in the overall framework of the UDN Strategic Advocacy Program and Plan (SAPP) 2017-2021.

POST: Research Fellow-Health sector
DUTY STATION: Kampala at UDN head offices with frequent field travels across Uganda.
REPORTINGTO: Program Manager – Community Empowerment and Engagement (GEE)

JOB SUMMARY:
The purpose of this job to spearhead relevant, Health Sector policy action research in UDN and to ensure that the organization has consistent analytical policy positions, high-quality engagement with the policy makers including Parliament, Ministry of Finance, Cabinet, Health institutions, National Medical Stores), Development Partners (including World Bank, Embassies, faith-based institutions) and supranational Governments.

Education qualifications:

  • At least a Bachelor's degree in Development/ Health/ Quantitative Economics, Statistics, Public policy management, Public Health, Development Studies or any other relevant qualification from a reputable University, Relevant.
  • At least three years minimum professional experience in Government and/ or NGO sector. Demonstrable experience in public sector policy analysis or advocacy.
  • A relevant Master's degree and post-Graduate qualification will be an added advantage.
