JOB DETAILS:
ACTIVITIES
The position holder is responsible for the following.
• Compliance:
o Always adhere to the values and principles of the Company Code of Conduct.
o Be conversant/comply with Uganda Legislation, Company Rules, Procedures, and Instructions.
o Ensure full compliance with SOX standards with respect to system security and reporting.
• HSE:
o Demonstrate personal commitment to the HSE Policy.
 Promote safety awareness at all levels within frame of responsibility.
 Ensure proper and effective internal controls and safety standards are in place for roads and pads maintenance.
o Proactive promoter of the 12 Golden Rules as well as actively participates in Company Safety awareness campaigns.
o Organize follow up of HSE anomalies and events reported by throughout the activities; monitor corrective actions to be implemented.
o Participate in the definition of the Department's Safety and Environment objectives and the directions in which progress can be made including possible risks reduction steps.
o Develop and apply HSE MS bridging documents for the roads and pads maintenance.
• Planning, Procedures and KPIs:
o Lead and suggest resources definition for the roads and pads maintenance:
o Oversee planning process to ensure achievement of operational objectives.
o Monitor and optimize the cost of the activities.
o Understand, apply and review/propose improvement for all operational procedures related to roads and pads maintenance as per Company rules and standards.
o Follow-up the KPI's indicators for Shared Support Services operations; participate in the definition, implementation and monitoring of action plans.
• Operational Leadership & Continues Improvement:
o Openly question established practices to achieve continuous quality and cost optimization improvements.
o Identify and adopt creative and alternative approaches to problem-solving and encourage others to do the same.
o Provide support in the priorities definition and accomplishment of logistics associated activities.
o Promote the waste management “5R principles” hierarchy, i.e.: Reduce, Recover, Reuse, Recycle, Residue disposal.
o Optimize the resources and operations in line with the 3C principles and LEAN methodology.
o Participate in the required audits.
• Roads and Pads maintenance:
o Organize, manage, and oversee activities:
o When required, participate to technical & Project meetings.
o Review and answer to Design and Construction Contractor queries keeping Civil Engineer in the loop.
o Prepare and review contractors maintenance plans; have it validated with D&W Logistics superintendent & Civil Engineer.
o Attend site works realization and review contractor deliverables from the progress/realization and civil engineering standpoint of view.
o Carry out necessary coordination with relevant stake holders/specialists following up inspections and tests carried out by Contractor.
• Personnel Management and competencies development:
o Should it be required, carry out appraisals of Company subordinates in accordance with Company procedures.
o Maintain and demonstrate own competency through LSO CAP (Competency Assessment Programme);
• Reporting and Investigation:
o Ensure line management kept informed on relevant issues which could affect safety, operational and commercial aspects of the operations.
o Maintain records and statistics to ensure accurate reporting, follow up KPIs and CPIs related to the Shared Support Services operations - these records will be used for cost allocation and invoice verification.
o Prepares road and pads maintenance weekly & monthly reports and any other ad-hoc reports when requested by the management.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
• Degree in Civil/Structural engineering
• Minimum of seven (7) years’ experience in Civil Engineering of Building and Civil/Structural Engineering Projects.
• An analytical mind, organizational rigor, holistic approach, tenacity, capabilities to demonstrate good leadership within a team to produce a safe, efficient well run through operations; ability to adapt, to analyze problems and communicate with many entities.
• Knowledge/understanding of current legislation pertaining to Environmental Protection, Health and Safety at Work, Waste Management.
• Ability to work on own initiative, remaining self-confident and solid under pressure, demonstrating logical thought patterns, high degree of organizational ability and be an effective communicator at all levels.
• Confident user of AutoCAD, MS Office products and OS Windows.
