ORGANIZATION BACKGROUND
Friends of Christ Revival Ministries Uganda (FOG-REV) is a non-governmental, nonprofit making, non —political, inter-denominational charitable organization that was established in 1999 by a group of volunteers as a response to a crisis caused by HIV &AlDS and poverty in rural communities in Uganda. FOCREV Uganda exists to work with the poor and marginalized rural people to improve their livelihood and increase self—reliance through education support, health services advocacy, food security and networking.

FOCREV has entered into partnership with Catholic Relief Services to implement Sustainable Out Come for Children and Youth interventions in Hoima and Luwero Districts Over a period of two Years and would like to recruit competent and qualified people to till the following vacant positions.

Job Title: SILC Coordinator (1 Positions}
Reporting: To the Project Manager
Duty Station :( Luwero District)

Position Purpose:
The SILC Coordinator will provide leadership in the implementation of Household economic strengthening activities using Savings and internal Lending Communities (SILC) methodology as an entry strategy for improving economic status of Children youth and their caregivers. S/he will ensure efficient data collection, analyze MIS data, adapt training toolkits to ensure program quality, and submit monthly and quarterly trend analysis and management reports to the program manager. S/he will also be responsible for providing operational and technical assistance to Economic systems strengthening team geared towards scaling up SlLC+ programs in Luwero District following industry standards.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
Work closely with other project staff and implementing partner staff to scale up Savings and internal Lending Communities (SILC) intervention as part of Sustainable outcomes program standard operation procedure (SOP) for economic strengthening through:

1. Coordination:

  • Work in close collaboration with CSOs working on beneficiary enrolment, assessment and protection formal and informal structures to ensure a comprehensive response to the needs of the project beneficiaries.
  • Oversee the integration of HES in the project and provide timely and detailed positive feedback to improve integration.
  • Mentor and build the capacity of Program officers/supervisors to integrate SILC into their development activities and additives.
  • Coordinate preparation of quarterly and annual plans, budgets and reports for the component.
  • Work with agro-enterprise technical lead to support SILC supervisors to facilitate and coordinate implementation of farmer enterprise development and market linkages
  • Technical assistance and manage the development, monitoring, analysis and evaluation of the HES portfolio in the project.
  • Provide input into recruitment and orientation of new SILC staff as may be required.
  • Develop project specific work plans, detailed implementation plans and project schedules based on project agreements and contractual obligations.
  • Participate in budget processes and periodic budget reviews for partners’ SlLC activities e.g. trainings and field monitoring visits.

Training:

  • in collaboration with other project staff and partners, work to identify capacity gaps with regards to Project activities in the District.
  • Design and support training for staff project beneficiaries in workshops and group level
  • Build the capacity of project staff on the SILC methodology and other HES
  • Guide and support project staff in their efforts to train Field Agents and supervisors.
  • Management Information System:
  • Maintain the partner level SAVIX MIS.
  • Ensure project is trained in use and management of SAVIX MIS.
  • Guide and support staff in their efforts to collect and analyze data on a monthly basis.
  • Use and study information captured through the SAVIX MIS, Production and Marketing to submit monthly and quarterly trend analysis reports.

Working Relationships & Contacts:

  • Reports to the project Manager and Works closely with Finance, Monitoring and evaluation of other project staff.

Job Requirements

  • Education: A Bachelor’s degree in Micro Finance, social sciences or business-related subjects from a reputable university.
  • Experience: At least 3 years’ experience in savings-led microfinance models (e.g. Village Savings and Loans—VSL; Savings for Change, CO-SAVE, SILC etc.), and management of OVC projects in a rural setting.
