Post: Senior Safety Methods Engineer

Qualification:Bachelor of Science in a technical field, preferably Ocpupational Health & Safety, or Chemical Engineering.
Location: Kampala

Experience:
Min 10 years experience in the upstream sector with a proven background in safety engineering in the Oil & Gas industry. in depth knowledge of SE referential.

Context and Environment:
Start-ug subsidiary requiring in depth knowledge of HS expertise based on international oil and gas referential and Corporate HSE policies and regulations. The job holder is responsible identifying and eliminating safety risks as well as driving Policies and best practices throughout the Company. Responsibilities include creating and implementing health and safety procedures and giving regular progress reports to the HSE management team.

Main accountabilities

• Oversee compliance requirements for Safety Management regulations in line with Company‘s Safety policies.
• Facilitate, conduct, arid document Management Program and Hazard Analyse Company sites
• Utilize risk reduction strategies to mitigate risk associated with Process Safety Management
• Prepare/submit reports as required government, regulatory agencies, and industry associations and participate in investigations ore-access related accidents
• Develop HSE Management System compliance to Group practices and international standards.
• implement arid maintain Emergency Response system and update existing Safety plans
• Maintain and test Emergency facilities
• Assist in the estimation of Safety budget and the effects of Operational changes on expenditures for HSE management review, action, and control.
• Draft and design layout of safety equipment, materials, and workspace to ensure maximum efficiency.
• Confer with service providers, staff and management personnel regarding Safety specifications, regulations and policies.
• Study operations sequence, functions and organization charts to determine Safety functions and responsibilities.
• Apply statistical methods to follow up on Safety processes aid applications to ensure their adequacy by implementing HSE reporting tools.
• Recommend methods or improving Safety implementation and communicate with management and user personnel to develop Safety standards within the subsidiary,
• Complete Safety reports and risk analysis to promote Safety awareness.
• Coordinate and implement Safety control objectives, activities, or procedures to maximize Safety standards and procedures.
• Develop Safety Operating procedures for facilities in collaboration with operations disciplines (Drilling/Construction/ Logistics);
• Review safely programs to determine their adequacy and Compliance to Group's Safety procedures.
• Mentor, coach, and train the staff on process safety issues
