PROJECT DESCRIPTION
WaterAid's vision is of a world where everyone everywhere has access to safe water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) in the World’s poorest communities. WaterAid works through supporting local organisations and government authorities to design and demonstrate a appropriate and sustainable WASH programmes. WaterAid also seeks to influence policy change through government and other key sector actors to secure and protect the rights of poor people to safe, affordable water and sanitation services.

The positions will report to the Specific Unit Heads, based in Kampala

Purpose of job:

• Development of sanitation and Hygiene business marketing models for scale up services
  
• Develop effective and efficient delivery of Sanitation and Hygiene practices in coalition with Water Supply, coordinating their interventions and representatively providing a forum for relevant stakeholders an authorities to address obstacles.
  
• Networking and Knowledge Management, Advocacy and Communications for debate and influence on Sanitation and Hygiene improvement.
  
• Provide technical leadership in the implementation, reporting, monitoring and evaluation of the water and sanitation component.

Principle responsibilities: technical leadership, partner support and capacity building, programming, representation, monitoring and reporting:

The Sanitations Business Solutions Manager will:

• Develop Sanitation, Hygiene implementation and behavioural change plans based on appropriate approaches and technologies as related to the different communities of WAU‘s operations
  
• Identify best of practice approaches and technologies for documentation and scaling up within the WASH networks, WAU partner organisations, Education, Health and Urban development sectors.
  
• Working along with the Policy Analyst identify policy gaps in enforcing synstainagle sanitation awareness together with ensuring that national policies are localised to promote compliance.
  
• Strategic support to WAU partners in Sanita ion an Hygiene partnership plans development and management e.g. Annual planning partner budget management, accountabilities, fund transfers, reporting etc.
  
• Participate in relevant fora at the national and districts levels to discuss the sanitation and hygiene issues e.g. National Sanitation Working Group, District and Sanitation Coordination Committee and regional TSU meetings
  
• Assess water & sanitation needs of the community and participate in designing appropriate intervention strategies.
  
• Contributing to the preparation of internal and external reports for the NGO and donors, including expenditure plans and situation report
  Education, experience and skills:
• Degree in Engineering, Civil & Building or related field.
  
• Postgraduate training in Water Engineering is essential.
  
• 6 years working experience implementing water & sanitation related projects, using community-based approaches m an NG setting.
  
• Proven practical experience in the construction of low cost water sanitation technologies using community-based approaches.
  
• Experience supervising contractors and ability to initiate and complete assignments under demanding circumstances with minimal supervision.
  
• Knowledge and usage of participatory approaches in project implementation.
