Job Description:
WomenSave is a registered International Non-Governmental Organization in Uganda. It is located at Rwekuba Village, Rwakabengo Ward, Rukungiri Municipality, P.O. Box 180, Rukungiri, Uganda.
WomenSave is on a mission to empower women to meet financial goals on their own terms with goal-based savings plans and mobile money. The innovative model which is built on research that shows women are inherent savers and people are more likely to save on a regular basis for a specific goal, brings women into the formal financial system, in a low-risk and high-impact way.
WomenSave is already operating in western Ugandan district of Rukungiri where it has already served nearly 1300 clients with: (1) financial literacy training; (2) financial advisory services; (3) commitment savings plans; (4) regular reminders to make contributions to them; and (5) access to mobile money. So, we are looking for more Savings Officers to add on our formidable team to extend our services to more clients in the last mile communities.
Position Summary
Savings Officers will be critical to the mission of WomenSave and responsible for providing services (detailed above) to clients. This is a full-time position from July 1, 2023 – June 30, 2024, reporting to the Country Director (based in Uganda) and Executive Director (based in California).
Key Responsibilities
Administrative
• Attend introductory WomenSave training in Rukungiri
• Submit weekly time sheets to Country Director
Communications
• Attend weekly meetings with Country Director
Products & Services
• Recruit new clients
• Assist clients to form small support groups
• Conduct financial literacy training for new clients
• Train clients in the use of mobile money (MoKash)
• Provide 1:1 financial advisory meeting for each client
• Create commitment savings product for each client
• Send regular reminders to make contributions to plans
• Attend weekly small group meetings once per month
• Send congratulatory messages at major milestones (ex: 50% toward goal)
• Inform clients when savings goals are met
Monitoring Evaluation & Learning (MEL)
• Collect baseline demographic information from new clients
• Track client progress toward savings goals on an individual basis
• Submit monthly reports to Country Director and Executive Director
• Collect quarterly qualitative data for active clients
• Conduct endline interviews with graduating clients
Qualifications
• Commitment to WomenSave mission and values
• Clients’ recruitment skills and experience
• Experience working in hard-to-reach areas
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business, finance, or similar fields
• Female
• Fluency in English and Runyakitara
• Excellent oral communication skills
• Experience presenting/teaching/training
• Knowledge of Microsoft packages most especially Excel and basic data input
• Familiarity with MoKash
Benefit Highlights
• Monthly Gross salary of 1,100,000 UGX
• Travel expenses reimbursed up to 400,000 UGX
