Job Summary:
The security officer is responsible for the effective and efficient management of the security matters of Uganda Electricity Generation Company Limited
Key Responsibilities: Brief Description of duties or the responsibilities for the job
1) Identify, assess, and manage security risks to safeguard company assets and personnel.
2) Conduct periodic security audits and vulnerability assessments across company sites.
3) Develop and implement security management strategies to mitigate potential threats.
4) Review, develop, and enhance security management policies and procedures.
5) Ensure adherence to company security protocols, industry standards, and legal requirements.
6) Provide security-related training and awareness programs for employees.
7) Supervise outsourced security service providers to ensure effective performance and compliance.
8) Coordinate multi-functional security teams to maintain operational security.
9) Conduct security briefings and enforce compliance with security policies.
10) Respond promptly to security incidents, breaches, and emergency situations.
11) Investigate security incidents, document findings, and implement corrective actions.
12) Accurately report all security-related incidents to senior management.
13) Monitor and operate CCTV cameras and other surveillance systems to detect and prevent security threats.
14) Conduct regular patrols and inspections to ensure compliance with security protocols.
15) Enforce access control measures, including searches of personnel, vehicles, and baggage.
16) Collaborate with law enforcement agencies, emergency services, and other external stakeholders.
17) Act as the primary point of contact for security matters within UEGCL.
18) Prepare and submit detailed reports on security issues, threats, and mitigation strategies.
19) Ensure the protection of UEGCL property and assets against theft, vandalism, and unauthorized access.
20) Maintain a safe and comfortable working environment for employees and visitors.
21) Implement and enforce health, safety, and emergency response procedures.
22) Any other duties assigned.

Supervisor: Head Estates and Administration
Subordinates: N/A

Education and Professional Requirements: The Minimum education level required to perform this job.
- Bachelor of Law or a relevant degree
- Cadet Course Training (added advantage)
- Certification in a security related area is an added advantage
Related Job Experience/Qualification: The Experience required to perform this job.
- At least 5 years as a security officer in a reputable organization.
- Experience in risk assessment, incident response, and emergency management.
Additional Skills: In addition to the experience and educational requirements listed above
- Good observation skills
- Fully aware of arrest and restraint techniques.
- Aware of health and safety issues
- Dealing with people politely but in a firm manner
- Computer literate, able to use MS Office and also visitor management systems.
- Having a professional approach to all routine tasks.
- Experience of monitoring and controlling security equipment
- Ability to communicate effectively at all levels.
- Data analysis and Report writing skills
- Risk Assessments
- Resuscitation skills
- First aid skills
- Security conscious
