About Us
Uganda Technology and Management University (UTAMU) was licensed on March 11, 2013 by National Council for Higher Education (License Number: UIPL022) to operate as a Private University in Uganda. UTAMU was established with the purpose of making a difference in the training of Technology & Management professionals within the region. To achieve its mission and strategic goals, UTAMU seeks to fill the position of AN ACCOUNANT.
DUTIES
The duties of an Accountant are to:
• Attend to student debtors, receipt all payments and ensure Up-to-date entry of Account Receivables into the accounting system according to agreed framework.
• Post all transactions on a daily basis and ensure proper classification as per accounting system.
• Develop and maintain a filing system for financial information and documents and information (electronic and otherwise) that will facilitate easy, storage, retrieval and ensure the safety of the said documents
• Draft minutes of meetings for Finance department for review and approval and help in follow up of resolutions of issues raised.
• Support verification of inventories and reconcile any discrepancies if any.
• Liaise with the E learning Officer and the Registrars to ensure that all enrolled students are cleared by Finance Office.
• To prepare monthly Tax and NSSF schedules and returns and ensure timely payment and filling with the relevant authority and give feedback of any challenges thereof.
• To prepare monthly receivable and clock in reports
• Prepare Part time Lecturers, BOD, Council and Committee meetings and allowances schedules.
• To prepare cash count certificates.
• Participate in the preparation of the University Budget and projecting processes.
• Participate in planning and budget consolidation by providing supporting documents and facilitating other staff
• Asset management – Ensuring all assets are labelled, well maintained and up to dateregister, deployment and disposal
• Ensure that all financial transactions conform to the agreed sound financial management system (Financial Manual) and where necessary advise the University Controller to review existing policies.
• Prepare monthly bank reconciliations statements of all the bank accounts of the University.
• Maintain professional relationship with the bank and ensure all necessary support and feedback needed from the bank are timely communicated.
• Support the University Controller to follow up on implementation of audit recommendation with responsible persons and updating action taken and any challenges thereof.
• Supports the University Controller to help staff understand financial e.g. Documents financial policies, systems and procedures in the University.
• Assisting in any other aspect of the Finance and Administration Directorate from time to time.
PERSON SPECIFICATIONS
• Applicants must possess a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in the respective discipline.
• A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in a reputable academic and / or corporate or government institution.
• CPA member ship will be an added avantage

APPOINTMENTS
The accountant shall be appointed on terms and conditions determined by the University Council for a term of three (3) years and shall be eligible for re-appointment.
REMUNERATION
An attractive remuneration package shall be paid in accordance with university terms and conditions of service
