JOB DETAILS:
The Adara Group believes each and every person should have access to quality health, education and other essential services, no matter where they live.
The first part of the Adara Group is an international development organisation called Adara Development that has expertise in maternal, newborn and child health, and remote community development. Adara Development has been working in Nepal and Uganda for more than 20 years.
The second part of the Adara Group consists of two businesses, Adara Partners and Adara Advisors, which are ‘for purpose’ rather than for profit. Their sole objective is to fund Adara Development’s administration and emergency project costs. This allows 100% of donations received by Adara Development to go directly to project-related costs.
The Adara Group is a child-safe organisation. All employees are required to undergo a National Police Check, a Working with Children Check, and sign our Child Protection and Safeguarding Policies.

Roles and Responsibilities
• Providing legal advice to the Adara Group on a wide range of international and Australian laws and regulatory policy
• Providing legal support to the Adara Partners’ transaction team and panel members
• Managing global legal risk
• Ensuring compliance with laws and regulatory policy
• Managing compliance reporting
• Preparing, reviewing, and negotiating agreements for Adara Development and the Adara businesses
• Assisting with grant applications and fulfilling ongoing grant agreement obligations
• Managing our insurance broker relationship and renewal of our insurance programme
• Assisting the Company Secretary in preparing Board papers
• Managing, building, and strengthening relationships with legal partners

• Qualification and Education
• To excel in this position, you will need:
• A minimum of 4 years PQE, at a top-tier law firm and/or in a well-established in-house team.
• Experience handling a range of complex corporate and commercial matters
• Admitted to practice in Australia and holding or eligible for a corporate legal practitioner practising certificate
• Strong understanding of Australian corporate law and the Australian financial services regulatory environment
• Strong analytical, drafting and negotiation skills and proficiency in developing and implementing legal strategies in a commercial context
• Exceptional relationship building skills, including excellent interpersonal skills with both internal and external stakeholders.
• Excellent written, verbal and presentation communication skills, including the ability to explain complex legal issues in plain English.
• High level of attention to detail
• A confident, proactive, flexible, and adaptable approach
• Ability to manage multiple and disparate tasks, including excellent organisational and time management skills
• A commitment to social justice and international development
• Company Secretarial experience, while not essential, will be well regarded
