The World Bank's Urban, Rural and Resilience - Social Global Practice (GSURR) is seeking to recruit highly organized, seasoned, energized and experienced professionals to serve as Short Term Consultants (STCs) - Social Development and Safeguards Specialists for the Kenya, Rwanda and Uganda Country Offices to support both social safeguards and social development issues and programs in the countries’ portfolios.

The consultants will address the day-to-day safeguards preparation and supervision/monitoring using appropriate knowledge of the World Bank's social safeguards policies and practices, in particular, OP4.10 (which focuses working with Vulnerable and Marginalized Groups of people and communities) and OP4.12 (Involuntary Resettlement associated with land acquisition). The selected candidates for these positions will work under the guidance of Lead and Senior Social Development Specialists. The consultants will focus on ensuring compliance with Bank's Social policies and integrating the social development agenda into operations.

Selection Criteria and Electronic Applications:
The successful candidate will be a holder of at least a Master's degree or its equivalent in a social or relevant sociological, anthropological or interdisciplinary field (urban planning, community development, involuntary resettlement. Knowledge of Participatory Integrated Community Development is a plus). Knowledge of the World Bank social safeguard policies related, in particular working focusing on vulnerable, marginalized groups and Involuntary Resettlement (OP4.12) will be a plus.
