JOB DETAILS:
Job title: Female Social worker
Reports directly to: head of rehabilitation or program coordinator.
Operational area: Kayunga field office (Busaana town council & kitimbwa)
Department: Clinic and Rehabilitation.

Social Work Job Roles:
To provide social work services, psychosocial support, and counseling for the parents/caretakers and patients in key areas of child/family development and well-being, emotional and spiritual health, and financial sustainability

Key Result Area Activities
• Assessments, Conduct the patient and family assessments including all aspects of socio-economic background that will be important to providing quality services.
• Develop a comprehensive understanding of the social service needs of the patient’s family and provide feedback to the department supervisor
• Together with the department supervisor and finance department, process, and follow-up on all pending invoices from partner organizations on monthly basis.
• Actively manage a caseload of assigned patients/families in the provision of Social Work services offered at the clinic and links to the community.
• Provide counseling to patients and families on a wide range of life like health and disability issues , child development and wellness, financial sustainability, HIV/Aids counseling, etc.
• Conduct regular patient home visits and meetings with parents, follow-up with patients on issues presented through the Assessment process and Follow-up patients who miss medical and physio clinics.
• Document or write at least one story of change (especially success stories) with photos per month as a resource to draw from when requested.
• Obtain patients' consent to share their information
• champion the financial empowerment for children with disabilities in Kayunga district.
• Active involvement with parent support groups
• Build relationships with key social services organizations, CBR groups, district local leaders and other support organizations
• Creating disability awareness in schools and communities
• Share with supervisor and other departments matters that need improvement or other forms of action for the next home visits.
• •Submit routine reports documenting various activities
• Spiritual Ministry through Participates in the starfish Spiritual Ministry programs.
• Performs any other related duties as may be assigned by Supervisor

Essential Qualifications
• Completed Diploma in Social Work and Social Administration, diploma in community-based rehabilitation, Child development or any other related field.
• At least 2 years’ experience working as a social worker most preferably in an NGO setting
• Must be a FEMALE who adheres to Christian ethos.
• Certificate in Guidance and Counselling an added advantage.
• Computer knowledge in Ms. Office, e-mail, and internet. Essential Skills
• Good teamwork, conflict resolution skills.
• Good oral and written communication skills
• High-level planning and organizational skills including efficient and effective time management and the ability to prioritize tasks.
• Positive attitude, Innovative and independent thinker.
• Exhibit high qualities of honesty and integrity when handling all organizational resources.
• Ability to travel long distances for referrals and patients' home visits/follow-up.
• Experience in Social Work/Community Based Rehabilitation programs is an added advantage.
