JOB DETAILS:
Job Purpose
To support a network of Community Health Workers within a sub-district, to deliver high impact, digitally-enabled performance management, supervision and the district health teams to deliver quality community health.

Key Responsibilities
• Support the health assistants to develop weekly and monthly work schedules for their monthly performance targets.
• Provide technical assistance and capacity-building on service delivery, supply chain management, digital health, management of community health human workers, and compensation of CHWs, among others, and share learnings and get feedback.
• Conduct daily, weekly, and monthly tracking and agree actions with respective district supervisor (Health Assistants).
• Provide technical support by conducting training and coaching sessions to supervisors and support sub-district health management teams on performance management and supervision of CHWs and use of data for decision making.
• Provide hands on district supervisor (Health Assistants)/VHT performance support through households’ door to door visits, coaching and capacity building in both the android technology and technical aspects of ICCM and other related areas.
• Accompany and Support supervisors on field visits.
• Train district supervisors on how to check stock viability with a focus on last-mile delivery via community events, small hubs, hub and spoke, and restocking days.
• Coordinate the activities with the health facilities.
• Support the District Coordinator/Health assistants to monitor performance.
• Alert the District coordinator to any arising risks, challenges, and impediments to implementation.
• Trouble shoot any day-to-day challenges.

Academic Qualifications
• Bachelor’s Degree in health sciences preferred.
• Post-graduate training in Management or Public Health is an added advantage.

Work experience required
2 years or more experience managing teams and driving performance through others.

Competencies/Attributes
• A sound understanding of the Uganda Health System and prior technical assistance work experience with and/or involving close association with national and district governments is a definite plus.
• Experience working with community health workers and driving performance.
• Strong interpersonal, communication, and writing skills.
• Position based in the field with the expectation of flexibility to travel in other districts when necessary.
• Good computer and analytical skills are a must. 
• Able to manage priorities, take initiative, and work without constant supervision. 
• Honest, reliable, diplomatic, and well organized.
• Collaborative team player.
