AkzoNobel is looking to becoming the industry leader in Uganda and to achieve this goal we would like to recruit a Technical Sales Engineer to join our management team.
Job Purpose:
As a Technical Sales Engineer, you'll use your technical knowledge along with sales skills to provide advice and support on our products for which a high level of expertise is needed. You will be a key point of contact for clients and provide both pre and after-sales advice. In delivering this job, the incumbent will regularly liaise with members of the sales team and colleagues from different departments. The emphasis of the work varies, and this includes selection and analysis of market opportunities, technical and commercial negotiations with customers and preparation of tenders and quotations. This requires a person with a firm understanding of national and international markets, competition and possess indepth knowledge to identify customer needs, plan the required process and equipment as well as the required sub-systems and services.
Principle Accountabilities:
• Manage and interpret customer requirements. Plays an important role in the sales process.
• Promote and sell equipment to business customers using technical knowledge and commercial training.
• Translate and explain highly complex technical information to customers and clients, focusing on revealing how a product or piece of equipment can address specific customer needs as well as offering after sales support on completed projects.
• Create and deliver powerful presentations and demos that clearly communicate the uniqueness of the value proposition.
• Provide pre-sales technical assistance and product knowledge on leads and quotes. Provide clients with sales advice and support, provide technical knowledge to identify new business opportunities and negotiate contracts. Provide expertise on technical quotations Compile and process technical quotations
• Work alongside a business development representative to consult on technical projects.
• Stay abreast with the latest developments and breakthroughs and be able to impart this vital knowledge on to others. Partner with sales executives to plan, prepare and execute strategic deals in complex sales cycles.
• Successfully match customer pain/requirements to proposed solutions.
• Keep up to date with industry trends in Automation Engineering and other technological advancements.
• Provide site installation support and supervision as may be necessary. Regularly review of sales performance.
Qualifications & Experience
• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering and Business Administration
• At least 5-7 years of experience in Technical Sales and a passion for selling technology solutions to senior executives.
• Must have strong technical and sales skills, as well as a firm understanding of the complexities of what AkzoNobel supplies.
• Experience of working closely with a cross cutting team of professionals in different departments.
• Proven track record of selling complex enterprise solutions.
• Need for travelling, either within a limited sales territory or possibly across the country or world. Solid technical background, hands-on experience, creativity and Project Management
