Job Title Trial Laboratory Technologist

Purpose of the Job
Quality processing of laboratory samples.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Sample reception
a) proper reception
2. Sample processing
a) prepare malaria and reticulocyte smears
b) plasma separation and storage
c) Preparation of Dry Blood Spots, RNA
3. Documentation
a) Fill reception logs
b) fill sample storage logs
c) Develop SOPs
d) Fill CRFs
e) Reviewing lab results
4. Sample shipment
a) Identify the samples for shipment
5. Quality Control
a) QC malaria, reticulocyte slides and reagents
6. Equipment maintenance
a) Daily monitoring of equipment
b) Daily cleaning
c) Running calibrations and QC
7. Any other duties as may be assigned by the supervisor

SKILLS AND COMPETENCE:
Necessary skills & attributes;
1. A minimum of three years’ experience carrying medical laboratory sample processing
2. Ability to maintain strict confidentiality in performing the duties of laboratory technologist
3. Good communication and interpersonal skills
4. Honesty and Integrity
5. Fluent in English- written and spoken.
6. Ability to meet assigned deadlines, support team members and uphold team spirit

  Qualifications Required
1. A graduate with a Bachelor’s degree in bio medical laboratory technology or bachelor in medical laboratory science
2. Registered with Allied Health Professional Council
