Overview
Duties and Responsibilities:
The Unit Controller for Mt. Elgon region will provide a strong link of Finance Function will be Operations function. The Job holder will be a direct contact person in the delivery of the core finance functions in Mt Elgon region.
Controllership
• Ensure all farmer payment bookings in the ERP have supporting documents.
• Drive full implementation of the issued cottes purchase control guidelines in all Elgoll stations.
• Create a mechanism of tracking all farmer crop finance advances for Elgon region ensuring the ERP fully captures the advance and recoveries daily.
• Provision of daily reconciliations for the crop finance sent to Mbale account
• Ensure any noo-cotfee petty cash payments have the necessary documentation and approvals, and drive for zero petty cash payment at stations.
• Support month-end, Quarterly, bi-annual and year- end close process
• Ensure there is full accountability of coffee stocks right from when we purchase coffee from farmers to delivery of cotfee to Namanve including production tosses,
• Protection of company assets oy maintaining an updated, campany asset register far [Igon region in Collaboration with the Financial Controller.
• Monitoring weighbridge operation of Mbale station to deliver full accountability of all stock movement in and out of the station.
• Support external tax and compliance related requirements and reporting.
• Create systems to. Prevent errors in data collection and calculations
• Supports timely responses to internal and external audit recommendations. Assures that corrective action plans are developed and implemented where needed
Performance Manager
• Taka the lead in creation of Elgon region cash flow forecast and daily tracking of cash availability in the region.
• Create dashboards to monitor production processes at the Mbale station and washing stations clearly highlighting outruns of coffee at difference stages of production processes and challenging management on improvement areas.
• Challenge Management on key production Performance indicators e.g. production outturns, plant uptime/down time analysis, powerlhea1 usage analysis, etc clearly highlighting the benchmark with commentaries tor management to take decisions.
• This jobholder is the key member in budgeting! Forecas1ing process for the region and is expected to take the lead in the planning cycle.
• Challenges! Tie cost allocation process both opex and capex for Elgon region to drive value for money. In liaison with the Mbale station Head, the jobholder drives the planning, monitoring and controlling of the region budget
• Work closely with the Financial Controller to deliver the cost per ton of coffee delivered to Namanve out of Elgon region clearly highlighting the cost drivers both fixed and variable expenses.
• Maintaining efficient and effective finance operations by automating processes.
Value manager
• Ensure compliance with all Internal financial and accounting policies and guidelines including authorization matrixes.
• Ensuring 1000/0 adherence to internal policies, processes and controls to minimize risks and
Eliminate fraud. (Zero tolerance to controllable lassos)
• Mentor and Coach Colleagues, delegating work streams effectively and holding team members to a high standard of excellence especially cashiers deployed in the Elgon region.
• Collaborate with Compliance Officer to ensure proper compliance with all regulations
• Collaborate with competent Officer to ensure proper compliance with all regulations
• Collaboration with the procurement manager to drive value for money spending for E1gon region.
Strategic Partnering
• Advises departments on best practices and partnership with them to develop solutions to achieve the goals of the business
• Drive for cost ownership among section Heads in
Elgon region •
Effective collaboration with head office finance to drive a shared finance responsibility of the entire company.
• Collaboration with the sustainability department ensuring the financial implication of these activities is fully articulated.
QuaJilications, Skills and Desired traits
Technical Competencies
• A degree in Commerce or Finance or Business
Studies. A professional Qualification (ACCNCPA) is a strong added advantage.
• Minimum 3 years’ experience in a busy business environment
• Highly developed analytical skills
• Excellent understanding and application of management information systems
• Excellent working knowledge of MS Excel and
Specifically spreadsheet design
Management Skill,
• Good oral and written communication and interpersonal skills
• Highly motivated, dynamic, self-driven with ability to work with minimal supervision
• Multitasking capabilities with strong ability to plan, prioritize and manage multiple projects under strict timelines.
